My Summary
About Me
I have six years of professional experience working with children from newborn to 18 years old in both medical and community settings. I also have over ten years personal experience caring for children in my family, which has led me to developing a great understanding of child development and care.
I’m very calm, nurturing and loving so rest assured your little ones won’t go short of hugs and cuddles if that’s what they need or want.
I love to get busy with children whether that’s cooking, baking, creating works of art or playing imaginative games.
I enjoy getting out into the fresh air, picnics in the park or wellies on and splashing in puddles. If we are in the comfort of your home or out on a bear hunt your little ones day will be filled with fun, care and excitement.
I know sign language so no matter the age of your children wether it’s baby sign or they are older and what to learn full sentences I can teach them something new.
I also have a lot of experience with teenagers so our evenings and weekends would involve me getting involved and paying an interest into their hobbies and passions. That could be football on a Sunday morning at the local field, them teaching me how to play their online games so I can eventually beat them haha, teaching them life skills such as cooking or being that person to support them and listen throughout there ‘teenage’ phrase… we’ve all been there.
My Experience
I’ve worked as a 1:1 behaviour support nursing assistant at the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford. This was for both adults and children, in regards to children it would involve supporting young people during there stay in hospital who may have difficulties with their mental health, eating disorders, self harm or this could simply involve being 1:1 with a child who’s parents aren’t able to be with them during there hospital stay, this could be day time or during the night . The ages of these children would range from newborn babies to teenagers.
I’m level 3 qualified in BSL and I’ve previously taught British sign language to children. These were at groups such as police cadets, girl guides, SEN children and parents groups and workshops that I held in the community for children and adults. These were with children between the ages of 3 - 11
I’ve also worked as a Teaching assistant in a secondary school in Oxford mainly in the SEN department but also helping in mainstream too at times.
This would involve supporting with learning material in the classroom but also doing 1:1 or small group work outside the classroom on topics such as self esteem, bullying, emotions, confidence and behaviour. These were with children between the ages of 11 - 16 years old
My last role was with looked after children in a residential setting. This was with 7 teenage boys who unfortunately aren’t able to live with their parents/families for varies reasons.
This would involve caring for them like you would your own children, cooking, cleaning, teaching them about personal hygiene, taking them to medical appointments, taking and picking up from School, taking them to after school activities, supporting them with supervised contact with families, watching movies, playing consoles, doing art, football in the garden or even helping them take care of their pets (Guinea pigs and hamsters) and of course showing them the love and care you would your own children.
The ages of these children were 13 - 16 year olds
My most recent role has been a live in Nanny role with two children aged 4 years old and 5 years old.
This involved full daily care for both children.
Full housekeeping duties including bed changes, washing, ironing, choosing outfits and packing suitcases for family vacations
I would also run errands including grocery shopping saving the parents approximately 10 hours a week.
Source ingredients, choose the menu and prepare fresh healthy balanced organic meals for the week.
Organise and dress the children each morning for school ensures all required school equipment is ready.
Maintain the children's schedules and transport them to and from school and extracurricular activities.
Bath and prepare for bed, I would read to the children to support literacy development and build attention.
Personally, I’ve looked after family and friends children (my God children) from birth and continue to at their current ages.
They are:
X2 boys aged now 6years old and 8 years old
X1 girl aged now 10 years old
