About Me
Hello! I'm Isabel and I'm 19. I grew up moving around the world as my dad was in the military. Whilst I was originally born in the UK I finished school in Australia in 2023 and since did a gap year working at a prep school in Hampshire. I learnt a lot about children's needs and, due to the long hours, learnt how to work efficiently under pressure. I'm a very energetic and positive person which has meant I've flourished working with children. When I was at school, I was in the Australian Army Cadet Unit. As a high ranking member I organised lessons and looked after children when we would go on camps. Other passions of mine include travelling, which is why I have now permanently moved from Australia to the UK. I love sports and music and did a lot of rowing and playing the flute in the years I was at school and so can help out with any music practice as well as homework if that were needed.
My Experience
During my gap year, I worked at a private co-ed prep school in Hampshire. As I worked not only in the day school but boarding, I learnt a lot about how to deal with different children, organise their schedules, help them with any needs and also be a teaching assistant in lessons to help some of the more troubled children. I mainly worked with the History department, which would entail marking work and assessments and helping to organize before the lesson. I would regularly take teams for sports and go on away matches for netball, hockey and football with children ranging from ages 8 to 13. With this, I also have experience babysitting some of the teacher's kids after school as well as dealing with kids during my schooling years as I participated in my school's Army Cadets program. This would mean I regularly organised activities and looked after kids in years below me on cadet camps. These roles allowed me to develop a strong sense of resilience and a strong work ethic.
My Qualifications
Whilst working at the school last year, I didn't get my first aid training but got a basic rundown with the nurses on how to use the med kits when going on away matches with the children. I was pool trained and so would often look after the kids in the pool and know what to do if something went wrong. I was enhanced and have been basic DBS checked when coming over the UK. I would be happy to get any further qualifications if needed.
