My Summary
About Me
Hello! I'm Rowena, an Ofsted-registered childminder based in Shirley and a proud mum of two. I became a childminder because I love being around children—watching them grow into their own little people, full of personality, curiosity, and big emotions. My goal is to offer a nurturing, playful space where they feel safe, heard, and free to be themselves.
A big part of my approach is encouraging children to enjoy and connect with the outdoors. I truly believe that fresh air, space to explore, and unstructured outdoor play are some of the best ways for children to learn, build confidence, and regulate their emotions. Nature provides constant opportunities for discovery and wonder—helping little ones develop resilience, creativity, and a calm mind.
I have a large, secure garden filled with toys and open-ended resources that invite exploration and imagination. We also go on regular walks and local adventures, giving children the freedom to observe, question, and interact with the world around them.
I’m passionate about supporting children emotionally too—helping them navigate their big feelings, build emotional awareness, and develop healthy social skills through gentle guidance and connection.
With a creative, child-led approach and the company of our friendly pet dog, I aim to provide a warm, home-from-home environment where your child can thrive, play, and grow.
My Experience
I am a new Childminder, but as a confident mum of two, I’ve learned so much about the joys and challenges of early childhood—and it’s what inspired me to become a childminder. I’ve also volunteered with children in various roles and spent time mentoring young people, which has deepened my passion for supporting their growth and development.
I have a good working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and use it to plan fun, engaging activities that help children learn through play. My goal is to create a safe, loving space where each child feels happy, confident, and ready to explore the world around them.
