Hello! I’m Maya, I'm Maltese-Turkmen but grew up internationally (around the U.S., Prague and St Petersburg). I'm friendly, warm, reliable, and genuinely enjoy spending time with children. I grew up with nannies and know firsthand the positive impact of this role. I love engaging with kids from all backgrounds and my psychology degree can help navigate any special needs/ roles around care. I’m currently based in St Andrews, where I’m pursuing my Master’s, and in my free time, I enjoy all sorts of sports from trapeze to tennis, and love to read. I take pride in creating a safe, calm, and playful environment where children can feel heard, supported, and free to be themselves.
My Experience
I worked as a summer camp activity leader for several years in London, Malta, and Stirling, where I was responsible for planning and leading fun, safe, and engaging activities for children of various ages coming in from around the world. I also have experience from helping care for my younger sister, which has given me valuable insights into child development, patience, and emotional support, coupled with my undergraduate degree background in Psychology. This deepened my understanding of child behaviour, communication, and wellbeing.
My Qualifications
I'm currently a Master's Student at St Andrews, with a First Class Degree in Psychology (where I undertook training on child development, which included observing the Stirling University Kindergarten).
My Availability
I can cater to your availability! I just need some notice, preferably the weekend before I come in, so I can make sure there's no clashes with university or work commitments
