About Me
Hi! My name is Lucy and I recently graduated from Durham University. I have worked with children since the age of 13 when I began teaching karate classes to children as young as 4. Since then, I have continued to gain experience with children, including working as a mock trial coach for students in a local secondary school and teaching as a tutor.
I am a fun, positive and responsible person who genuinely enjoys spending time with children- whether helping with homework, planning games or keeping bedtime routines. I have also previously gained first-aid and safeguarding certifications, so safety is always a top priority.
Now that I have finished university, I have a very flexible schedule and I am happy to babysit as little or as often as needed :)
My Experience
From the age of 13 to 18, I worked as a karate instructor, independently teaching children classes twice a week. I primarily led beginner classes for younger children (aged 4+), which required a balance of strong communication and creating a safe, fun environment.
As part of this role, I completed DBS checks, first aid training and safeguarding courses, earning relevant certifications to teach.
For two years, I have been a GCSE tutor with MyTutor. This has reaffirmed my ability to balance responsibility and academic studies with maintaining a friendly, kind environment.
More recently, I have gained experience with older children. I volunteer as a mock trial coach at a local secondary school for students aged 13-16.
My Qualifications
I have an up-to-date DBS. I also have first-aid and safeguarding certifications through in-person training. Throughout my degree, I have worked with children such as being a tutor through MyTutor.
My Availability
During the weekdays, I am completely free now that I have graduated from university.
I work part-time on weekends (only around 8-12 hours). I may still be available on the weekend, but it would be dependent on my shifts that week.
