About Me
Family of 4 with 2 children aged 6 and 10 seek help for 24hrs a week term time only 26k salary. Both children are autistic and home educated. We also have 4 dogs and a cat!
My Requirements
This role is ideal for someone with experience in education and a deep commitment to respectful, non-coercive approaches to support. Your focus will be to support engagement, confidence and joy in learning through relational connection, interest-led exploration and community-based experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
-Deliver hands-on, interest-based learning across core areas (literacy, numeracy, science, humanities) using low-demand and play-based
strategies
-Accompany her to scheduled weekly activities such as horse riding and outings using her Wellington Country Park and Merlin passes
-Support emotional regulation through co-regulation, sensory tools, and flexibility around her nervous system state
-Document learning and progress in a reflective, journal-style format to feed into EHCP reviews and professional updates
-Liaise with parents and external professionals (e.g. Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist, Educational Psychologist) to
maintain consistency and alignment
-Adapt each day responsively around her sensory and emotional capacity, always prioritising trust and relationship
Essential Skills and Experience:
-Prior experience in education (e.g. as a teacher, teaching assistant, learning mentor, or SEN tutor)
-Experience supporting autistic children and those with a demand avoidant profile
-Confident in using a low-arousal, non-directive approach that avoids
behaviourist strategies such as reward charts or discipline
-Strong interpersonal skills with a gentle, respectful presence that
supports autonomy and emotional safety
-Organised and able to track engagement and learning holistically, even
when progress is non-linear
-Full driving licence and access to a car to attend off-site activities
-Enhanced DBS (or willingness to complete one)
Hours & Pay
There are two working pattern options, both totalling 24 hours per week:
Option 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday — 9am to 3pm
Option 2: Monday to Wednesday — 8am to 4pm
Pay will depend on experience, hours agreed, and employment status:
Up to £26,000 per annum if employed
Up to £29,000 per annum if self-employed
What We Offer:
