About Me

I am organised, creative and enthusiastic about childcare and education. I live in Monifieth but am happy to travel where needed. I am passionate about inquiry and play-based learning. I am excited at the prospect of taking care of young children and would use my experience of teaching to enhance their experience with me. I enjoy sports and fitness, and encourage this with children.

My Experience

I have been a primary teacher for ten years. I am seeking a career change and flexibility for personal reasons. I have worked with children from 4-12 years old and have experience of home schooling. I was the Assistant Head of Teaching and Learning (PYP Coordinator) and a class teacher for the past 6 years. I pride myself on high-quality and creative experiences for children.
I have taught across all age groups, effectively implementing the curriculum through inquiry-based learning, forward planning, and comprehensive reporting. I have taught various areas of the curriculum, including English, Maths, Social Studies, History, Science, Physical Education and Music. I was the main point of contact for parents for pupils in my class, and organised the children's busy schedules effectively. Organising each child's individual timetables in an Independent school.

I have to have strong skills in IT. My confidence and passion for IT has been highlighted by my colleagues throughout my career. I have a vast knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft, and access to teaching and learning resources, alongside a wide variety of data systems. Using ManageBac and Engage in my most recent role.

I have built strong, positive relationships with the parents and wider community which stems from open communication and clear aims. I have training and experience of ensuring children are safe and protected from harm, cared for and able to thrive, and offered high-quality learning and development opportunities. Working in conjunction with GIRFEC principles, entries are regularly made and reviewed in the Daybook for pupils. I have dealt with a wide range of concerns and linked them back to these principles. I have also been involved with developing and implementing the behaviour, discipline and anti-bullying policy, matching them with the values and ethos of the school.

My Qualifications

I am GTCS registered with a Degree in Primary Education. I have demonstrated my willingness to undertake mandatory information governance training by engaging with and gaining certificates in First Aid (Paediatric), Child Protection, Data Protection (in Education), Administration of Medication in School, Risk Assessments, Fire Safety and Equality and Diversity. I have taken all opportunities to develop my knowledge and understanding of the appropriate management training by gaining the certification for The Role of the Coordinator, Leading the Learning in Early Years and Planning for Programme Evaluation.
I have also further developed my understanding of education by completing a one-year Master's Degree in International Education and Bilingualism through Universidad Camilo José Cela. Furthermore, I was awarded the IB Advanced Teaching and Learning Research Certificate, demonstrating my commitment to deepening my understanding of IB curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment. This certificate, obtained concurrently with my Master's Degree, involved rigorous, systematic investigative work, integrating relevant literature with practical application in my IB classroom. These experiences have equipped me with a strong foundation in educational research, curriculum development, and international best practices.
I also hold a PVG certificate for children.
