About Me
Hi! I’m a mum of seven wonderful children — my eldest is 12 and my youngest are 2-year-old twins. Life is full and busy, but filled with love, laughter, and plenty of learning!
I currently work in the charity sector in a varied part-time role, which sometimes falls outside the usual 9–5. I also teach paediatric first aid and was honoured to receive a CPR Hero Award last year. Prior to this, I spent over 15 years as an early years practitioner, so I truly value the importance of nurturing, play-based care and early learning.
Several of my older children have special needs, so I wear many hats and am a strong advocate for early intervention and community support. I'm experienced in navigating diverse needs and value providers who offer patience, understanding, and a child-led approach.
About the Twins
Our twins were born 7 weeks early but have mostly caught up developmentally. They both have some speech delay but understand a wide range of instructions and communicate well non-verbally.
Twin 1 (Sophie) is adventurous, independent, and always on the move. She loves magnetic tiles, climbing, and chasing pigeons at the park — her favourite place is the swings! She wears special boots for a foot condition and benefits from daily play-based movement like tiptoeing and kicking balls. She's a great little helper and enjoys tidying up or throwing away rubbish — anything that makes her feel involved.
Twin 2 (Sammie) is our cuddly and sensitive boy. He has an NG tube for water and medication, which he's had since birth (except for one week). Full training will be provided if it’s still needed when childcare starts. He loves puzzles, magnetic tiles, messy play, and watching penguins at the zoo. He can be a little more anxious with new experiences — for example, he was nervous on a coach journey recently and needed lots of reassurance — but he thrives with comfort and consistency.
Their Bond and Play
They are very caring children who love giving hugs — both to each other and to others. Their bond is incredibly strong, and they’re rarely apart. Except for the occasional hospital stay or a sporadic appointment, they’ve always been together. I don’t believe in separating twins unless absolutely necessary, as they clearly feel most secure and happy when side-by-side.
That said, we also nurture their individual personalities and interests. We don’t buy double of everything, and they’ve learned to share fairly well — although like most toddlers, it’s still a work in progress at times!
They love to play, chase each other around the house, and make up their own games, like hiding under a sheet to play “peek-a-boo.”
They also enjoy books and storytime, often asking for favourites to be read again and again.
Sammie particularly enjoys small world play — “roaring” for lions and dinosaurs is a current favourite!
Sophie loves looking after her baby doll — feeding it, carrying it around, and occasionally putting it to bed.
Both adore pushing their baby dolls (and sometimes each other!) around in toy buggies, often turning it into a game of its own.
Eating Habits
Both twins eat well and enjoy a wide variety of foods — yoghurt is a particular favourite! They love all kinds of fruit and, while they can be fussy with vegetables like most toddlers, they usually get there in the end and will eat most things over time.
Sophie has recently overcome some restrictive eating habits. She can still be hesitant, but when left to explore food at her own pace, she’s much more willing to try new things. Sammie is more of a grazer and prefers smaller portions spread throughout the day.
Their Personalities
As the youngest of seven, both twins have developed strong voices and are confident in expressing their wants and needs. Sophie is determined, focused, and knows exactly what she wants — often preferring to do things for herself. Sammie is affectionate and gentle, always ready with a cuddle and looking for comfort in new or unfamiliar situations.
They’re both growing into their independence and really benefit from having the freedom to explore, make choices, and try things in their own time. We support their differences while embracing their closeness — helping each of them grow into confident, curious little people.
