About Me
Hi, my name is Lucy Allen and I live in Leatherhead with my husband and two children aged 20 who attends University and 16 yr old who is doing A-levels.
My home is always full of fun and laughter, with different activities set up each day to entertain various ages of children.
I have been registered since February 2011 and was very pleased when I maintained my Outstanding certificate in January 2020. I enjoy the flexibility and spontaneity that childminding brings to me and my family. Every day is different which helps to keep a fresh approach to mine and the children's lives.
I visit a number of toddler groups in the area and run a childminding toddler group with two other minders on Tuesdays. I also take the children to places of interest such as Polsedon Lacey, Soft Play, Gym and much more.
I enjoy doing messy play, baking and gardening with the children, whilst also spending time at home encouraging learning through play and helping the children to discover new things in their environment.
I have recently got an allotment and plan to grow fruit and vegetables with the children and learn about the environment and sustainability. I want to teach them about being self sufficient and learn about growing your own food. We will have a specific day where we go to the allotment, to dig, care for our vegetables and have fun.
My house is 5 minutes walk from Leatherhead train station
My Experience
I am N.N.E.B qualified and have got 36 years experience in childcare. I was a nanny for 3 years, looking after newborn- 7 years.
I then managed a day nursery in Putney for 5 years.
Finally I was a manager of a very successful Nursery in Fulham for 10 years, popping out in between to have my two children.
After moving to Ashtead I decided to become a childminder so I could continue caring for children as well as being able to spend quality time with my own children.
