About Me
HI, my name is Melanie and i am an OTSTED registered childminder. I have been registered for 7 years and was previously an NNEB Nanny for 18 years. I have completed my NVQ level 3 in childcare, and have recently had my OFSTED inspection in which i was graded OUTSTANDING. I. also attend first aid and safeguarding training every 3 years, as well as regukarly attending various other courses to do with childcare. My son has a peanut allergy so i am very aware of special dietary needs and am also epipen trained.
I live with my husband in the knightsfield area of Welwyn Garden City, with our 2 children, Jessica aged 12 years and attends Monkswalk secondary school, and Cameron aged 9 years and attends Templewood primary school. We also have a gorgeous dog called Charlie, he is a minaiture labradoodle so will always be small in size, he is hypo-allergenic as my son has asthma and eczema, so is suitable for children with allergies. He ie wonderful with all of the children and they all love him and learn alot from him, but i do have a stairgate between the lounge and kitchen so that he and the children can be kept seperate when needed.
I visit various playgroups and art groups during the week, as well as many parks and indoor soft play areas. I have an annual pass to willows farm which we attend at least once a week. We also enjoy walks in the woods, story time at the library and special planned trips in the school holidays-eg, museums, aquariums, gulliversland and seasides.
I do lots of arts and crafts with the children to keep them stimulated and work towards the Early Years Foundation Stage. I keep a learning journey for each child with regular observations, activities, photos and assessments. I keep a daily diary recording what the child has eaten, slept, drank, nappies, what we have done throughout the day and if there has been any accidents or injuries or other awards or concerns. There is also space for the parent to add anything about the child, to share any worries concerns or interest or good news.
I can do drop off and collection from Templewood school and Footsteps pre-school.
My Experience
I have 18 years experience as a Nanny and a further 7 year experience as a Childminder.
I have worked with children my entire career and have many years of knowledge to draw on. I have cared for children from newborn through to teenagers.
I have experience of children with allergies, asthma and eczema and am epipen trained.
I regularly attend different courses to keep extending my experience.
