About Me
I am an Ofsted registered childminder, my last Ofsted grading in 2025 was 'good'. I live with my husband and two sons.
I live in a quiet residential road which is a short walk from Walton on Thames Station. I have a dedicated playroom with a large selection of toys and lots of further space on the ground floor for children to play and explore. We like to spend a lot of time outside and I have a large rear garden and I'm well equipped for lots of outdoor play.
I provide a welcoming environment for children to feel at home in and enjoy playing and socailising with children of similar ages. We take part in a range of daily activities, sometimes within the home and garden and also out and about meeting other childminders, local toddler groups, local parks, Bushy Park, Wisley, soft play centres and so on.
I follow the required Early Years Foundation Stage.
My Experience
I have been a registered childminder since 2008 looking after children aged from 6 months to 6 years. I can provide excellent references from both past and present parents.
My Qualifications
I am Ofsted registered and a member of NCMA. I have certificates in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene (level 2). I regularly attend local authority run training courses. All of my family hold current DBS checks.

Mel is an absolutely fantastic childminder. My daughter was so very happy with her and absolutely blossomed. She was always thrilled to be “going to Mel’s” and my daughter misses her immensely. But Mel has given her an excellent grounding to thrive. Mel has a lovely light and airy house set up for her childminding, and it oozes friendliness and fun. I always had absolute trust and confidence leaving my daughter with Mel, knowing she would be nurtured and well looked after. My daughter would go off happily without a backward glance! My daughter always came back with fun tales of trips to the park, playing in the garden, arts and crafts, stories she was enjoying, games she was playing and things she had learnt. Choosing Mel as our childminder was one of the best decisions we made and I only wish I could have had her for my son as well! If you are lucky enough for Mel to have availability for your child I wouldn’t hesitate. Thank you Mel - we miss you!

We can not recommend Mel highly enough. We feel extremely lucky that she had a space free when we were looking for a childminder. She is an experienced, trustworthy, fun and caring childminder. Mel takes the children out almost everyday to a range of outdoor and indoor venues. She feeds them home cooked meals and gives them healthy snacks. Her house is lovely with a well equipped playroom, garden and rooms for nap time. We get a daily report each day with links to EYFS.
We have been extremely happy with Mel and trust her explicitly with our child.
