About Me
Hi, my name is Amanda. I live in Elsenham, a short walk from Elsenham station with my English Springer Spaniel. I live in a 3-bedroom semi-detached house which includes free flow access to an outdoor area with a range of resources for the children to explore. Indoors I have a dedicated playroom, with a range of toys to suit children from birth to five and beyond.
My setting’s ethos is to provide a fun, safe, loving home. My home is geared towards creating an environment that allows children to develop at their own speed and where they can reach their full potential, while being stimulated, creative and happy. I plan around the children in my care individual needs to make their development and learning exciting in the activities we do and places we go.
My daughter Kerry is a registered assistant for my setting.
My Experience
I have been childminding since 1992. My home-based activities vary daily but do include cooking, outdoor play, soft play, toddler groups, Forest school, library time, arts and crafts, musical and sensory based activities. During school holidays we partake in "day trips" further afield, for example to farms, seaside, country houses, forests and parks. I have also worked with children who are bi-lingual.
My Qualifications
Since becoming a childminder I have attended various courses relating to childcare, so that I could further both my understanding and skills within my career. I also want to provide the best possible service both to children and parents.
I feel by achieving the qualifications that I have, has given me a sound understanding of my role as a child care practitioner and what the children need.
I shall continue to upgrade my qualifications and skills where possible.

I believe learning can come from many sources and most of mine has come from life experience and bringing up my own children.
I am accredited and able to offer early years funding to 2,3- and 4-year-olds. This is currently 30 hours per week of funded entitlement.
I have a DBS check (as does my assistant), Paediatric First Aid, Designated Lead Safeguarding (level 3), and Food Standards Agency rating 5.
I am a member of the Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY).
I have public liability and employee liability insurance.
My Availability
My normal hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 5.30pm (unless prior arrangements have been made)
I shall always try to be flexible regarding the hours in my working day and can often work any extra hours you require.
