My Summary

My Experience

Currently completing my PGCE and teaching 16-19 years old within a college environment.

Placements Officer: I worked for an independent foster agency, as a placements officer. We work closely with Local Authorities from all over the country, to find looked after children and young people the most appropriate foster family who can manage their individual needs and enable them to thrive and flourish.

Residential Worker/ Shift Leader: I would support young people (8-18) with emotional and behavioural difficulties. I encouraged every young person to reach their full potential and assisted them to develop the skills that they would need to prepare them for independence. I was also a key worker and shift leader.
I updated placement plans and risk assessments. I kept daily and weekly logs regarding the young person's progress and any issues that they may have been experiencing.

General Camp Counsellor/ Nanny: I was a general camp counsellor/ nanny, I was based in in a summer camp that give children and young people the opportunity to try new activities and gain new skills.
I would support the children under 5 to participate in activities that were engaging and enable them to thrive in their development whilst ensuring they were safe and that their physical needs were also met.

Wath Comprehensive Secondary School (placement): I was based within the social science department supporting young people aged 11 – 16 with their learning. Predominately in Health and Social care, PSHE, and psychology. During this placement I carried out a research project regarding how young people perceive positive mental health.

Live in Nanny: Over the summer, I moved to Australia to become a live-in nanny. I adapted to the Australian culture and built close relationships with the family. I cared for two boys aged 13 months and 5 years old this included transporting to school, preparing meals, planning activities, supporting with homework and completing house chores.

Talbot Specialist School (placement): I was based within a year 8 class, with students who had various learning and medical needs such as Autism and Cerebral Palsy. I would assist the students in their learning, often on a one to one basis.

The Avenue Nursery (placement): This was an early years setting, supporting children aged 3 – 5. This was a child-led environment in which there was very little structure and the children had the opportunity to make decisions. I would plan activities that were underpinned by the EYFS, I would ensure that the activities were fun and engaging whilst targeting certain areas of development.

Tumble Tots Courier: I delivered age appropriate sessions to children 0-5 years, the sessions were designed to develop their gross motor skills and co-ordination.
