About Me
I'm Helen and I share my home with my partner, Neil and our secondary school twins, Theo and Phoebe. We also have a cockapoo called Frankie and a cat called Scissors.
I love looking after the little ones and watching them grow, helping them achieve all the skills they will need to have them ready and able to flourish at school.
We have lots of outings to various places. We like to visit Whipsnade Zoo, Hogshaw Farm as well as various softplays, trampoline parks, playgroups, woods and forests etc. We go out every week and meet up with other childminders 2 or 3 times a week.
As well as outings I provide daily opportunities for the children to develop their fine and gross motor skills. We cook regularly everything from rice crispie cakes to lasagnes.
We also love a bit of messy play so no designer clothes! unless you don't mind them getting a little messy.
I provide a varied curriculum to develop each childs individual learning around their interests. Because of the nature of our activities and planning I do not offer preschool drop offs or pick ups as this interferes with the full-time children's learning.
Although I am open from 7am until 5.30pm you are not expected to do a full day, however, I do like all children to be here between 9am and 2pm for a minimum of 2 days per week. On rare occasions your child may need to be here longer, for example, if we visit World of Crocodiles, Gullivers Dinosaur Park or the Olympic Park.
All outings, entrance fees, ingredients, snacks, wipes and learning equipment is provided in the fees. You will need to provide a small bag containing nappies (if required), a change of clothes and a packed lunch. If your child is under 1 year I will discuss their needs separately with you.
I accept 2,3&4 year old funding and tax free childcare towards payments. I will accept 9 month funding from September 2024. I am open 47 weeks of the year.
My Experience
I have a level 3 in homebased childcare. I have annual safeguarding training. I hold a paediatric first aid certificate. I have been a childminder for over 7 years and a mum for 37 years.

Helen and her team where absoutley amazing with my son who attended Helens home setting after being in 2 different nurseries.
They were so patient with him, and catered to his needs especially his eating habits!
My son has since left and thrived in school and no thanks to these guys!
Great communication and feedback
I plan to use Helen again when I need childcare for my second child

We joined Helen’s about a year ago, and my children aged 3yrs at the time transitioned very well from a nursery setting, we had full day places, and then just school runs for about 6 months.
Helen keeps the children occupied with different activities, celebrates their birthdays and have regular outings.
She also takes time to converse with each parent.
So sad that she could no longer provide the school run to Bedgrove, her and Neil were excellent. I highly recommend them.

My two boys ( 4 and 2 ) joined Helen and her assistants in September 2019 after moving from their nursery setting as I was about to start a new job closer to home. This was the first time I had considered a childminder but Helen really helped put my mind at ease.
The boys settled in very quickly and have developed leaps and bounds in all aspects and they love their time here.
My eldest boy really struggled his with some social situations and speech/being understood and he now won't stop talking and is becoming much calmer and accepting. They get to go on trips to the farm and park more often than in a nursery setting and they have both learnt brilliant manners such as please/thank you and washing hands before eating. They are always make things such as painting, cakes and models which they both very much enjoy.
My eldest often makes me go to look at the work all the children have made stuck on the wall.
It's made my life less stressful knowing both of my children are happy and well looked after. In fact very often, they don't want to come home at pick up time!
