About Me
Hi, I am Paula and together with my husband Paul we run PJ's Childminding services
We both received OUTSTANDING in 2015/16 and 2020 by Ofsted for our inspections.
We live in Cullompton Devon,where we have three grown up children, a daughter who is aged 18 and also 5 grandchildren aged 17, 13 ,6 and 4 and 2 years old, although only my 18 yr old daughter is resident in the house where I operate the childminding business.
We are very much a relaxed, family setting offering lots of trips out & about.
We constantly attend local toddler groups and playcentres, trips out to local attractions such as playzones, libraries, beaches, train rides etc,which are inclusive of the costs of fees paid.
We have a nice safe fenced in garden with both covered and uncovered, lawned and patio areas, climbing equipment, mud kitchen and real world areas a wooden wendy house and a large selection of various sit and ride toys.
On a daily basis, we endeavour to always cover/address the areas of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) learning programmes..with our main curriculum focus being on the emotional development side which then ensures that children blossom and grow well in all areas of learning.
Having two of us has resulted in us now being able to devote more one on one time with the children and to be much more flexible to parents hours/needs.
My Experience
For several years prior to childminding I worked with young adults and then children with special needs.
I found this work very rewarding but found it hard to leave my little girl once she came along & so therefore I began a career in childminding.
This worked well for both myself and my daughter as she always had other children to play with and for me personally as I again find it so rewarding when a child achieves something in their learning.Through the many years since this has helped me understand many children (and parents) needs across a wide spectrum of issues
Both myself and my partner Paul completed our level 3 diplomas in childcare. back in 2013 and have continued with multiple areas of continued professional development since, constantly updating our knowledge and experience

My son who is now 2 started at PJ's in September last year. He loves every minute of his time there as there is never a dull moment. Paul & Paula are not only brilliant with my son but have been a massive support to me too in the transition of starting back to work.
They stimulate my son with a variety of activities & outings & he loves them so much he chats about them when hes not there & hugs them on arrival. I couldn't ask for better carers for my child.

We have been with Paula for 8 months now, initially our daughter and son was with her. Our daughter now goes to school and is only with Paula for short periods of time, mostly when I am away.
Paula has made a massive impact on both of our children, she is fantastic with them. I don't really know how to explain it, both children love being with Paula and cannot wait until they see her next.
The biggest impact is with our little boy who spends most of his day with Paula. They are always doing things and never get bored. He is always inspired and most of all wants to go back. Paula has helped him so much with his language skills and is even eating much better now. The help and support that Paula gives all of us is fantastic is she is a credit to the profession. I have no bad points about her, the house that she uses is perfectly setup to cater for child minding and her children are very good with all that attend there. If there was a medal for childminding Paula would have one for every child that she works with.
