About Me
My name is Becky Tilley of First Steps for Life and I am a Ofsted registered Childminder, providing a safe, stimulating environment for your child to learn, discover and have fun. I am also a proud wife and mother of three wonderful children aged 2, 3 years and 5 years old. Living in a beautiful spacious home with a lovely selection of books and toys for your little ones to enjoy and play, at the Red Row development in Devonport.
We live a short distance from the city centre and have great play parks close by where your children can run around, climb, and explore, as well as a wonderful library down the road to read and listen to stories. We attend playgroups weekly, giving your child the opportunity to socialise and make new friends.
Indoor play includes activities like baking, messy play, sensory play, puzzles, play dough, building and special creations for parents to take home.
We also take trips down to the Hoe, Aquarium, and have picnics in the warm weather.
I am available for daily chats to talk about what your child has had fun doing and seeing day to day.
My Experience
I started working in nursery schools in 2009 and gained a NVQ Level 2 in Children's Learning and Development.
I also gained a grade "A" Cache level 3 Home-based Childcare Diploma.
I have been childminding since 2012 and was graded, GOOD by Ofsted, also in 2016 and 2022.
I've completed numerous training courses, to further my knowledge and experience.
Have gained accreditation with the Trio Childminding Network, I receive regular support from an Early Years Advisory Teacher.
I have a great network of support through meeting with local childminders, at training sessions and within the local community. To enhance the social play and environment, for the children.
I have cared for a number of children, boys and girls from 10 months to 4 years and after school care for primary school age children up to 8 years from St Josephs primary school. I have many satisfied parents who are happy to provide references.
Also I have experience working in a primary school, with Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children in year 1 and 2.
My Qualifications
I have received a 'GOOD' from Ofsted on both inspections in 2012 and 2016 and 2022.
NVQ Qualification in Children's Care, Learning and Development (level 2).
Home based Childcare Diploma which I passed with a grade 'A' (level 3).
Pediatric First Aid Course.
Safeguarding Training.
Communication and Language Development Training.
Expressive Arts and Design Training.
Full member of the Professional Association For Childcare and Early Years.
Fully Trained Early Years Specialist and can offer 15 hours per week free funding for 2 to 4 year olds.
Cache Level 3 Award in Supporting Teaching and Learning In Schools.
Maths Entry Level Functional Skills Certificate
My Availability
My normal working hours are 7.30 until 6pm Monday to Friday. However we I am willing to work outside these times.

My Fees
- Childminding from £4.50 per hour
Fees are tailored to each family's needs, so please contact me with any specific requirements.
I am happy to consider term time only contracts.
I accept the two and three year old government funding, as well as accepting vouchers from most childcare voucher schemes.

My daughter was going to becky and Carl for about a year 2 days a week, and I couldn't fault them in anyway, alexis was always asking after them both when she wasn't there, and always left and returned home very happy, they take he children out a lot and ensure that they have a lot of fun and learning, since alexis had been with becky and Carl I feel her development has come along really well, i truly believe I couldn't have chosen a better childminders for my daughter then first steps, i would recommend them to everyone and anyone.
Overall
My son has been going to Becky and Carl's for 6 months now and I cant find 1 fault. They are absolutely fantastic. My son has so much fun, there days range from sensory play, play groups, lovely walks and many other fun stimulating activities. He has learnt so much and is always so happy after spending time with Becky, Carl and the other children.
They are very easy going people who always make you feel welcome and very reassured which every parent needs when leaving their children for the day. They are both very fun, loving and calm people who embrace every minute of the day!

Me and my partner we're both working full time so we needed our 2 year old to go somewhere safe, fun and happy!! We could not be more happy with Carl and becky! Thanks guys!! X

Overall
Becky has been looking after my son for just under 12 months since he was 11months old and he absolutely adores spending time there. With a dedicated play room that provides a safe environment for the children to play in Becky and Carl fill the day with play, crafts, and actively encourage learning. With trips to local parks, the shops and the library as well as playgroups my little boy has learnt how to interact with others and gained confidence.
Becky and Carl have been flexible when I have had to swap hours in work even if its been at short notice.
I couldn't be happier and can't recommend them enough.

Overall
Becky has been looking after my son for the last 9 months since we moved into the area. He settled straight away which was a great relief but will start school in September and will miss his days with Becky.
Becky has a dedicated playroom for the children with craft items and role play toys to help them develop and express themselves. She is always taking the children to the local pet shop, park, play group or library.. Becky writes a daily diary of my son's activities which helps me to be able to talk about his day when he gets home. He loves playing with the other children in her care.
Becky has been flexible and been able to accommodate me when my work patterns have occasionally changed which has been a great help and also been able to provide after school care for my older daughter, collecting her from a local school.
