About Me
Hi, my name is Jen I set up Nature Tots in 2012, I work with a wonderful Assistant Jenny, who mirrors my passion for children and early years education.
I focus my setting on children aged from birth to 4 years 11 months and take pride in providing a warm, nurturing home from home environment which promotes the holistic development of children in my care. My approach is enhanced by outdoor learning and being in nature, which I believe promotes a fantastic learning experience for children.
Child-led play is encouraged here at Nature Tots, it is delivered through a combination of methods including Montessori, Hygge and the Curiosity approaches.
Nature Tots is located in Kingsmead which is a lovely family area. We are located in a quiet cul-de-sac opposite a beautiful wooded green and duck pond. Just a short walk away are numerous play parks and nature walks, making it easy for us to incorporate outdoor activities into our daily routine. We have three children ourselves and our setting is also home to two friendly cats and two well-trained and well-natured Labradors.
Our spacious setting consists of our whole ground floor space, which includes a dedicated playroom, lounge, quiet area, kitchen (which we use for messy play, arts and crafts, and baking), and a large garden, we also have close by, access to our Allotment that we visit during the growing season. All areas are equipped with carefully planned resources and open-ended invitations to play. We encourage children to explore their interests and learn at their own pace.
Our Playroom is full of carefully selected high-quality educational resources, and many of them are within reach or sight for children to self-select. We do a lot of open-ended child-led teaching through carefully planned invitations to play, inspiring imaginations, encouraging new experiences, and encompassing the current interests and next steps of each individual child.
In addition to spending time in the setting, we also participate in an extensive enrichment program that includes Forest Schools, Jo Jingles, Farm and Zoo Visits, Country Parks, Woodland Walks and Playgroups. All of which provide a rich learning environment for the children.
Working with young children is a rewarding experience, and it's an honor to watch them grow and develop. I feel privileged to look after other people's children because they're so precious.
We have a Strong Good Ofsted rating with areas of Outstanding (last inspection was in January 2023), and we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Childminding is an excellent option if you need flexible childcare. Your child will receive all the educational and developmental benefits of the EYFS curriculum, just like in a nursery, but in a more personal home from home environment. Additionally, childminding offers the opportunity to explore the natural world and local community beyond more formal settings.

My daughter currently goes to Jenny 2 days a week and I could not be more happy with the service Jenny provides. My daughter has so much fun when she is there and always comes home with lots of stories of the activities that they have been doing, lots of fun and educational. Jenny has always been very helpful and reliable during the time georgie has been going to her and I would recommend her to my friends.

My son currently goes to Jen three days a week. I could not be happier with the service she provides. My son gets the opportunity to do lots of messy play, creative activities, go to play group and socialise with other children. His development has increased massively since his time with Jen and the service she provides means we can track his progress and help to progress him onto the next stage. Jen is very caring and my son loves going to her. He always has healthy meals and is welcomed as one of the family. I would highly recommend Jen to anyone.

My son has been going to Jenny since he was 13 months and he absolutely loves it. Jenny offers a safe but fun environment for him and I go to work without worrying as I know he is in safe hands.
The activities are brilliant, I have seen improvements in my sons speech and understanding since being with Jenny. I have also noticed that being with other children has made his confidence grow.
Jenny makes sure she gets out and about with them and keeps me fully updated on what they are doing or done each day. She also sends a online update which is usually waiting for me when I get home from picking my son up- this contains everything I need to know about the day.
I would fully recommend anyone looking for childcare contacts Jenny. She is dedicated to her job and this shows in how hard she works to keep the children entertained with fun but educational activities.

Our daughter has been with Jenny for over 6 months now and we couldn't be happier with the service that Jenny offers. The variety of activities, meals and trips that are offered on a daily basis are excellent. At the end of each day we receive a comprehensive report of Evie's day which is really informative and also includes photographs of the days activities! Jenny is a lovely, caring person and she has taken great care of Evie over the past months.
Sadly due to a change in my job, we have had to make the difficult decision to move Evie to a childminder closer to home. I can't recommend Jenny enough, you can confidently leave you child in her care knowing they will be looked after to the highest standard.
We would like to wish Jenny all the best for the future and if we ever need a childminder in Northwich again she will be the first person we contact :)
