About Me
Hi
My name is Karen, I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I have worked as a qualified and Ofsted registered nanny for the last 25 years and have experience working with newborn babies to 17 year old teenagers. I have experience in special needs in particular autism, ADHD and associated difficulties.
I live in Ash with my husband and 2 children a boy who is 11 years old who attends senior school and a 8 year old girl who attends Ash Grange school.
We live within walking distance to a couple of parks, the canal and lake, woods, shops, library and schools. I am also a driver with a 7 seater car.
I like to attend toddler groups, rhyme time, soft play, parks, the farm and the occasional visit to the beach as well as playing at home with the children.
I have a large variety of toys for all ages including a variety of construction toys, jigsaws, train tracks, dolls, baby toys, walkers, jumperoo, bouncers etc. I have an extensive range of creative play equipment and enjoying getting messy with the kids!! We have a large selection of books for all ages and stages of development.
In the garden there is a swing, slide, water and sand tables, a variety of ride ons and trikes.

Feb 2010 - Nov 2010- I looked after the little girl already mentioned plus another baby boy of the same age from 7 months to 15 months.
May 2011- Feb 2013- still looking after the girl previously mentioned, I also looked after another girl the same age from 2 years and a little boy aged 1.

-Taking care of the day to day care of the children
-Coordinating and teaching on a Specialist ABA program for one of the children with autism

-Helping as special needs assistant to one of the children when he started mainstream school

I met Karen last year upon moving to Ash Vale and we kicked off quite well.
I cannot express how much care, support and diligence Karen always had towards our daughter - she has been a happy child since start date. I'm only leaving Karen's setting due to life practicalities (elder child started Reception away Karen's way).
I loved that Karen offers outdoors activities whenever possible, which are well balanced with group meetings with other Minders and indoor activities. She always communicates any changes on Sofia, anything to look out for or just how she has been during the day. Karen's daily notes and pictures on BabyDays are priceless.
I cannot recommend Karen enough and we will be miss her hugely! 5 stars are not enough!

Thank you very much for this lovely review. It has been lovely to look after your little girl full time and watch her grow into a beautiful young lady. We will stay in contact.
Karen has been caring for my son Antony
for the past 2 years - since he
was 2.5 years old. I am absolutely delighted with the care that he receives. Karen is not
only attentive to his needs and wants, but also takes the time to help him grow and
develop.
She takes Antony on a number of outings each well:soft play, local groups, playgrounds, farm etc during this time he was able to interact with other children. At home he has access to a full range of age-appropriate toys that will stimulate him.
Karen also provides a regular, healthy diet for our son and when he need a special diet she also take care about this.
I receive regular updates with a lot of pictures through the app( brilliant idea)
Antony was very happy and comfortable in Karen's house and company and I was fully confident leaving him.
I am really grateful for the help we had in past couple of years. We will highly recommend Karen as she is fantastic childminder.

Thank you very much for this review, it has been a pleasure to look after your son and we miss him very much but glad is doing well at school.
Our lb came to Karen after the lockdown in spring 2020 and soon he looked forward to going to her setting. He clearly felt safe in Karen's care. At this point our lb didn't say many words and thanks to Karen his English communicative skills have thrived ever since. We can see that he obviously enjoys the varied activities at Karen's setting as well as the company of the other children in her care.
We are so sad to leave Karen due to moving away to another town soon. We especially value her flexibility and communicativenss and wish her all the best.

Thank you for your kind words, it has been an absolute pleasure to look after your son and he will be very much missed
My daughter has been with Karen since June 17
She is a fantastic childminder and she comes home very happy whenever she is with her.
She gets lots of social interaction with other children at local groups and with visits to or from friends.
She has encouraged her developing milestones allowing her to explore the environment she is in. Which, i can track all her progress and daily activities on an app that Karen uses. Which I think is absolutely fantastic! I can always know what my little one has been up to..
I highly recommend karen as a childminder. My daughter has been made to feel very welcome as have I amonghts Karen's family.
