I work with my daughter full time who is a level 3 health and social care qualified practitioner she also has a level 3 childcare qualification and is registered childminder also . her specialised area is children with hearing difficulties and using sign language on a daily basis
I have been childminding for 20 years from my own home which is in a rural area with plenty of garden to run around in , I have a level 3 Early years qualification I have three adult children, we have two dogs a daushound and a cocker spaniel. We are also lucky enough to have two donkeys at the end of our road which we visit regularly, the children can learn about them and and take carrots and apples to fed them. I have a wide variety of resources to enable further learning opportunities

I have lots of experience with children of all ages I have twins experience as well as I have cared for two sets of twins I also have SEN experience
I have previously worked with children with special needs
I have taken a vast number of courses to further enhance my experience and help to give your children the best possible experience within my care
I have previously worked in a pre school and also been a volunteer for home start who are there to help people with children under 5 who need a little bit of support for many different reasons

I have up to date first aid peadiatric certificate
I have completed safeguarding lead practiconer training
I have full insurance through childcare.co.uk

My Availability
I am available for Tuesday -friday from 8- 5
outside of these times can be accommodated for shift workers and over night care available
I am also accredited so offer all funding from the government

When we moved to the area 5 years ago, our child was 3 and had almost exactly a year before starting school. We were moving from another Childminder so I thought I knew what to expect in terms of level of care etc. Petina made us completely at ease and we started our time with her - week 2 she asked to talk to us one eve and told us that our son’s fine motor skills were not at the level she would expect and she was concerned that this would hold him back when starting school - but she already had a plan for working with him while he was there and gave us lots of ideas for what we could do at home to help as well. This is just one example - there are far too many to list here.
When we had our second child there wasn’t even any thought that he wouldn’t be at Petina’s when I went back to work. She worked with us to do a phased introduction from 9months and he’s loved it from the first day. The difference in his communication, confidence, fine motor and other learning from being there from the start has been notable - he has just turned 3 and is so much further ahead than our eldest was when we first arrived here.
Petina and Shay give personalised care and are able to adapt to needs of the children specifically and quickly - not just because it is their job but because they genuinely love and care for the kids and want the best for them while having fun. Our eldest is still there for school wrap around care and his favourite thing is ‘all the trips out and lots of time outside’. Our youngest loves all the play and the music man visits!

It has been a year since my son started coming to Petina. I was very focused on nurseries and was not sure about childminders in general.Petina and Shay-Louise changed my mind utterly and completely.My son had tremendous year full of trips, animal encounters, real Santa's visit and just every day fun.Petina was very flexible with all our requests and even last minute pick-up disasters.5 stars are truly not enough!!

One year and 9 months ago I anxiously and tearfully left my precious daughter with Petina. She handed me a little goody bag and I left for my first day back at work. It was when I looked in that bag (some hours later ?) I realised I had found the perfect person and her family to care and nurture my baby.
I received updates throughout the day putting me at ease. This has never stopped.
My daughter is nearly three and is so clever, happy, funny and bright, Petina has played major part in moulding her into this perfect package ?
I really cannot praise enough, my daughter is a lifer!!
Thank you, thank you for helping me back to work, I really struggled at first but I have no worries as I kiss my baby goodbye and drive away every day!

My children have been in this setting nearly 2 years and have come on so well!
The setting provides so much on all levels of their well-being.

Our baby girl has been with Petina (childminder) at Rugrats almost 5 months now, she started there when she was 7 months old. From my first contact I felt at ease that we had found the right setting for our family. We had visited many other childminders and was satisfied that I could not find another childminder I would feel more comfortable leaving my precious little baby with. Petina is not the sort of character to say how good she is at her job, however we have found that her actions speak louder than words. That is much more important in my book.
We have found that the care our baby has recieved to be outstanding. She is very happy and content when we drop her off and I can tell from how she responds to Petina that she is loved and secure whilst in her care. The fact that baby is so happy and settled I know will aid her learning and development.
I could write so much about how satisfied we are with the service Petina offers, however if your anything like I was during our long search to find the right place it is probably best that you meet her, visit the setting and see for yourself.
