About Me

CURRENTLY HAVE NO SPACES AVAILABLE WILL UPDATE WHEN HAVE SPACES. THANK YOU.

Hello prospective parents!
I am Darren, a male OFSTED Registered Childminder in the Failsworth area and one of only two male Childminder's in the Oldham Borough. I am a proud dad of 2, my son is 12 years old and my daughter is 6 years old. My wife Tracy is an Deputy Headteacher at a Special Needs School in Manchester.

I love being with my children and it was actually my son's idea to become a Childminder, he thought I would be 'awesome' and once I thought about it, I realised he had a point as I get such a lot from looking after and caring for children. Further discussions with friends and family whose children I have looked after confirmed my route into Childminding as every bit of feedback was positive. Many of the comments have centered on the fact that I am a fun, happy, nurturing, caring positive male role model in their children’s lives. So much so that I usually find that on trips out to soft play areas or parks I usually end up like the ‘Pied Piper’ with children following me around playing games, jumping in the ball pool, climbing and sliding on play equipment and generally having the most fun! This interaction in a fun, nurturing, creative, safe way with your child/children allows me not only to create lasting memories for them and you as a parent, it also serves to build up your child’s risk and resilience skills in preparation for school. it also gives you security knowing that your child/children are being cared for in a well managed, fun environment which equips them with the tools needed to grow, play, develop and interact with their world.
My home setting continues this ethos offering a dedicated playroom for your child/children with different creative activities planned each day, such as playdoh, baking, messy play and painting alongside free play times to allow your child to explore their natural preferences for play. We also have a ‘home/dress up corner’ to encourage imaginative play and a ‘quiet area’ to allow your child/children some down time after all that fun! I also have a large secure back garden for your child/children to explore with a variety of play equipment on offer, including sand/water play, swings, slides, bikes and scooters. My home is situated within walking distance of Brookdale and Failsworth Parks and Failsworth Library and Daisy Nook Country Park; we are also active participants in the areas playgroups.
I am conveniently located between, Manchester City Centre and Oldham Town Centre and am a ten minute drive from Ashton under Lyne. I am also just a short distance from the M60 for Bury and Stockport.

My Experience

I have had lots of experience over the years having been trusted to look after and care for close family and friends children alongside caring for my own children; which has been very rewarding. I look after my younger godchildren and my wonderful nephew, who is autistic, regularly for the day (during school holidays), evenings and some weekends as respite. I used to regularly look after 3 children voluntarily for 2-3 days in their own home whilst their parents worked away; these children are all grown up with children of their own now and to think that I had a part in shaping who they are today makes me a very proud man.
However since becoming a father myself the experience has been never ending! I am proud to say I have been there every step of the way with my own two from illnesses and food allergies to weaning, teething and toilet training! Watching a child learning as they grow, the pride on their face as each new milestone is reached is a very rewarding experience.
In amongst all this I also have 10 years of teaching Karate under my belt (no pun intended!). I have taught Goju style Karate to classes of up to 30 students from the age of 4 years up, again, this gives me a great sense of achievement, watching the little ones progress from nervous white belts through their grades, their confidence and skills emerging at every class and I have been lucky enough to watch some of my students progress to their black belt, quite an achievement for an adult; immense for a child.

My son has been going to Dazzy Day care since 2016 when he had turned 2, he is now 5 nearly 6! straight away he settled in so easy and the first day i left him he was very happy and content and did not get upset once.
He absolutely loves going and he's got a good set of play mates too.(the gang)
I love the fact that in the school holidays Darren always takes them out to museums, playcentres and parks, he's always on the go with them.
He's always so helpful and is always happy to lend an ear if you need to talk about anything.
I would not choose any other childminder, my son is very lucky to have Darren as his childminder!
I just can't praise him enough!
I've recently filled in a questionnaire for Darren and one of the questions asked (to be answered by my son) was why do you like going to your childminders - the answer was 'because i love him' that just says it all.

My daughter niamh is 7 months old and soon to be one of the dazzy day care gang. I have known darren for many years he is a lovely caring, fun person to be arround. I booked her place at dazzy day care and darren talked me through all the information with great knowledge. He has excelent comunication skills and made myself and my partner very relaxed. Darrens home is a lovely safe environment with a really nice atmosphere . I wanted niamh to be having fun and getting out and about during the day when she wasnt with me and i feel i have chosen the perfect place for her to be. As my return to work date is getting closer darren has worked out time for niamh to visit so she can get used to things. Im Feeling really positive about leaving her. Will post a review after she has started and let everyone know how it went.

Well I used Dazzy Day care for a short while while I was changing jobs and also my partner worked long hours.

However we had to stop as we moved further away and Dazzy Dazy Care was not on the school drop off pick up for my youngest who has just started in Ashton Under Lyne.

Dazzy Day care was great for my youngest child as she felt at home in the setting, was always busy with something to do each day and I know she ate well every day. As a mum that was my reassurance that Jessica was happy each day, and she made a friend with his own daughter too.

If you are looking for a place that keeps your children happy and busy each day then you should go see Dazzy Day care.
