About Me
I am a qualified childcare professional and I have years of experience working in Childcare and Education with children from birth to 18 years old. I have experience working in a wide range of different childcare settings, in nurseries, as a teaching assistant in primary and secondary schools also working in specialist schools with children with special educational needs. I also provide tuition services to primary school children and in the past I have set up and run a youth club in my local community. For some years now I have been childminding children 0 - 16 years old in my home as a Ofsted registered Childminder. After taking a break from childminding, I am currently working as a Nanny and collecting children after school. I have also have my own teenagers, who have given me years of hands on experience and training. Current DBS.
My Experience
I have been working with children for over ten years, starting out in nurseries. I have worked in primary schools as a teaching assistant, secondary schools with children with special educational needs during this time I was working in the classroom assisting teachers and students. Attending to the day to day needs of children, providing personal, social, hygiene, welfare and behaviour support.
I started out in childcare working in a large nursery, working with children aged 1 – 5 years old. I supported teachers to plan, clean and prepare activity areas and duties such as preparing snacks, toilet assistance, accompanying children on outdoor excursions and classroom monitoring. Ensuring health and safety legislation’s are met at all times. Engaging children in creative free play and learning activities. I have a thorough understanding of child development and know how to guide children in growth. Working in a multi-agency team we would discuss child development and where necessary introduce parents and children to experts who advise on speech therapy, health & diet related issues etc. We also provided them with information to other supportive services.
In my time working in a local Primary school, I worked with Nursery children up to Year 6. I was assisting classroom teachers in teaching, planning and delivering lessons. I supported children with their learning and development. I worked one to one supporting children with special educational needs and working alongside other professionals to ensure these children accessed the correct services and support. I read daily with individuals assessing their reading levels, took small groups for activities and kept up to date records of children’s progress. In this time I was also a big part of the Parent, Teachers Association, helping and supporting them in planning events and activities to raise donations and funds for the school.
I spent some time working in a High School for children aged 11- 16 years old with special educational needs. I worked closely with children in year 7 and 8 assisting teaching staff in planning and delivering lessons and helped and supported children in their learning. I worked closely with parents, support staff, occupational therapists, nurses and other professionals. The children I worked with had a wide range of needs including specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, speech, language and communication difficulties, psychological and behavioural issues, physical disabilities and medical needs that mainstreams schools cannot accommodate.
I have set up and run a youth club for children aged between 5 and 16 years old. I did this on a voluntary basis to provide safe and stimulating activities and play sessions to children in my local area. We held weekly sessions for different age groups, with sports, games, arts and crafts. The youth club was like a hub for the community, where parents could meet with other parents and leave there children to play with other children in a fun and most importantly safe place.
I have worked as a childminder registered with OFSTED providing childcare from 0 -16 years old. In this time I was caring for children in my own home, meeting the OFSTED requirements.
