About Me
Hi, my name is Sue and I am an Ofsted registered childminder since 1997. I live in Shinfield, not far from Whiteknights school. I have three children of my own, all have left home. I offer home from home childcare and my aim is to help your child enjoy their days in a loving, caring and warm environment.
We live in a large four bedroomed house with a large fully enclosed secure garden with lots of space to run around and play. I have a range of toys and activities such as painting, colouring, role play, dancing, cooking, arts and crafts, books, story time, slide, water play, sand play, paddling pool and more. We visit a wide variety of parks including one only five minutes walk away. We visit Early lake to feed the ducks, visit Dinton Pastures for play and picnics and go on age appropriate outings. I plan activities on a weekly basis and cover traditional celebrations throughout the year.
Before becoming a childminder I worked as the Pay Clerk at John Lewis, Reading which I returned to after having my first child. I used childcare during this time and so therefore understand how important it is to have reliable, flexible and understanding childcare.
I can provide excellent references from past and present parents. I have excellent relationships and communication with parents which can be clarified within my references. Many of my references refer to their children becoming an extension of my family.
I have a clean driving licence.
I work term time only.
My Experience
As well as raising my own three children, I have cared for babies as young as 8 weeks and have looked after a range of different children. I have worked with very shy children, speech delay, dyslexia and febrile convulsions.

Graded "GOOD" by OFSTED at my last inspection in March 2020

If I had all the money in the world to buy whatever child care I liked, I still would hire sue. She and her family gave the most outstanding care to my son. We sadly were only with her for a few months due to a house move, but in that time my son was made to feel like one of the family. Its not just her but her lovely older children, her pets and husband who made my son feel so safe and happy and loved. He never cried going, and that was from day one, he was always excited to go.
My son has complicated health issues and I always felt worried leaving him except for when he went to sue, I could switch off do the things I needed to do and know he was in great hands. Sue also sent me photos in the day and a little message to say he was OK.
It was a relaxed setting with only a couple of other children.
Frankies speech and mobility improved in that time too.
If your lucky enough to use sue as your childminder you wont ever want to leave, I feel very envious for the children who get to spend time with her.

Sue had been my child minder for almost five years, looking after my little boy from 14 months until he started nursery and then my daughter until she started nursery.
Sue is lovely, friendly and endlessly enthusiastic about looking after children- she genuinely loves having the children in her care and doesn't just see it as a job. Sue has three of her own children who were well mannered, happy, healthy and confident and are an absolute credit to her and they love having children around. Sue offers a home from home environment and treated my children just like one of her own which is exactly what I was looking for in a child minder.
Sue took the time to send me pictures during the day so I could see what the children had been doing and they were always smiling and laughing. Sue also does lots of different activities such as painting and cooking and taking them out and about to the park to feed the ducks and to the play ground. Both of my children still ask after Sue and point to her house and get very excited if we're ever going past.
Sue is also very reliable and flexible and puts the needs of the children first always working around their routines.
I would thoroughly recommend Sue to any parent looking for childcare. Whilst Sue cared for my children I felt relaxed and comfortable knowing they were in the best of hands
