My Summary
About Me
Due to ill-health I am not currently taking on any Early Years children. I will however consider taking on children before and after school, term time. Hunt me down in St Barts or. St Stephens school yards if I can help.
I am an Australian living in sunny Benton with my happy family since 2001. My background is in hospitality with an ecological twist. I aim to provide your children with a holistic, play-based learning environment, encouraging children to explore the environment and activities while supporting them. The needs of your child are my first priority, but I understand that parents's needs are also important so I aim to support you so that you can go to work in the knowledge that your child is cared for and learning.
You can always find me in the playground at St Barts and St Stephens Benton.
In March 2020 I was graded Outstanding by Ofsted once again.
My Experience
I began childminding when my eldest son began nursery in 2005 after being a nanny for three years. Since then I have continuously improved my practice and qualifications through PACEY, the Open University, CACHE, and North Tyneside Children Come First Childminder Network. I am currently working towards accreditation in Hygge in the Early Years.
My Qualifications
Certificate Early Years (Open University) Level 4
Flexible Free Entitlement 3-4 year olds.
NVQ3 Childcare Learning and Development Level 3
Diploma in Homebased Childcare
Recently completed an Open Degree through the Open University with minors in Early Years, Biology and Geography.
My Availability
Monday to Wednesday during North Tyneside term time. Other times with negotiation. Do ask - I'll see what I can do.
Ideally I'd like to help eligible families from St Barts and St Stephens Nurseries and St Barts Playgroup to access their 30 funded hours.

Both my children were looked after by Fiona during their pre-school years. They both loved going as days at Fiona's are fun, active and engaging. They enjoyed trips to the beach, local parks and forests and other fantastic educational experiences (such as museums). Fiona is sensitive to the requirements of each of the children under her care and tailors learning and experiences to the interests of each child. She provides a warm, friendly and stimulating learning environment. My daughter was very shy in her pre-school years and she thrived under Fiona's nurturing care. She completed her nursery year with Fiona and went straight into reception. She gained a solid grounding in early learning goals at Fiona's and formed lasting friendships, so has entered school happy and ready for learning.
My children both say Fiona's is fun, fantastic and a great place to make friends!
Our son has been going to Fiona since he was 2, that's 7 years now, and made great and lasting friendships there. Fiona's unique ability to get to know the children and cater for all needs and abilities is second to none and really if it wasn't for her I don't think I've have been able to continue my employment. Our son is quite sensitive and his needs have always been met. It's been lovely to see him thrive. Especially as Fiona is able to set clear and very loving boundaries. As a parent I have learned a lot from her. I think it says a lot of our school choice was based on where Fiona can pick up from to allow for the continuity of child care.
