About Me
Hello my name is Karen Fowler. I have been a registered childminder now since 1996.
I am married with two daughters, Kelly and Khloe who I also work with.
Kelly is also registered with OFSTED and Khloe is our assistant. So it’s a really lovely home from home setting.
We all have level 3 qualifications in childcare and Kelly and Khloe have worked in various different childcare settings, gaining plenty of experience prior to working with me.
I am based in north Abingdon, in a quiet cul-de-sac, we live in a Detached house, with 2 large playrooms filled with fun and educational toys and resources, a secured garden with artificial grass and a sheltered patio area, suitable for playing in all weathers.
We have plenty of woodland walks and 2 play parks surrounding our area.
Each month we have a fun, enriching plan which we base all of our activities on for that month.
Each day consists of lots of fun arts and crafts, educational activities, outdoor play, story, singing and circle time. We also do lots of fun, nutritional baking and cooking, making our own play-dough and we’ve recently built a mud kitchen in our garden for the children to play in!
The hours that we work are from 7:45am-5:00pm Mondays - Thursday’s (however on Thursdays we do finish earlier at 4:30pm), this can be a term time only contract or an all year round contract.
We have a well behaved, friendly miniature schnauzer, Albie.
My Experience
I have been a registered childminder since 1996 and I have previously been a network childminder with Trio for 4 years. I have also been an enabled childminder and a mentor for newly registered childminders.
I provide the EYE funding for 3/4 year olds (preschool funding) and offer the two year entitlement and will be offering the 9 months old funded childcare from September2024.
My Qualifications
I hold a Level 3 NVQ qualification in Childrens care learning and development.
Both Kelly and Khloe are all level 3 qualified.
All 3 of us are paediatric first aid trained.
I have training in SEN and have attended various child related courses over the 26 years.
We hold a valid food & hygiene certificate.
In my recent OFSTED, I was awarded a good grade in all areas. Our recent OFSTED inspection was in May 2024 and we received a good.
We all have generalist and designated lead safeguarding training.
We are continuously updating our training and interested in doing lots of online courses in all aspects of training, gaining new skills and keeping up to date.
My Availability
We have a minimum of 7 hours childcare per day.

My Fees
