Georgia (Gee) worked for me at the end of July/early August 2013, looking after my three granddaughters aged 6, 4, and 17 months whilst we were on holiday at a caravan holiday park in West Sussex. Georgia proved herself indispensable, and made it possible for the three girls to make the absolute most of their holiday, which they all enjoyed immensely thanks to Georgia.
Whilst I had not met Georgia before our holiday, I had spoken to her on the phone a few times and we exchanged several emails during the weeks before the holiday, and I was more than happy with her application for the position.
On meeting Georgia, I was more than pleased with her demeanour, and just knew that she would be perfect for my grandchildren. They all took an instant liking to her, and I could tell that they would be in extremely capable hands. Georgia was obviously excited to meet the children (as they were her), and this enthusiasm continued throughout the whole time she worked with them.
The most amazing thing about Georgia was her ability to engage children, of various ages, at all times. For example, my two eldest grandchildren were waiting in a queue for an attraction, which was obviously going to be for an hour or so, along with several other children. Within minutes, Georgia had the whole queue enthralled with her stories, tricks, and games, to the extent that the children actually wanted to stay in the queue rather than take their time on the ride! Another example was in the play area, whereby Georgia was the "crocodile" in Peter Pan, and every child in the playground (about 20 of them), of various ages, joined in the game for an hour or so.
As an added bonus, Georgia was a fantastic swimming coach. She has swimming coaching qualifications, and transformed my two eldest granddaughters from being nervous in the pool to being able to swim the whole length of the pool unaided, jump in at the deep end, and even swim underwater for several meters. The girls love their swimming, and I simply could not have been able to take them at all if it had not been for Georgia.
If I were to describe Georgia, I would say that she was very enthusiastic, energetic, extremely trustworthy, and caring. She is mature and very patient. I was understandably nervous at leaving the children at first, but soon was able to totally trust Georgia to look after them unsupervised. I cannot fault Georgia, and can think of no bad qualities about her at all.
Georgia was totally flexible about her working hours, and fitted in with my requirements with ease. She worked within a good routine with the children, with enough discipline to keep them in check without losing the element of fun.
The main point of me employing Georgia was to ensure that the children had a fantastic holiday. They all totally adored her, and were so happy being with her. They cried when we had to say goodbye (although Georgia told them to say "see you soon').
In summary, I really hope that Georgia is available for our next holiday, and I can highly recommend her for any position involving looking after children.
