My Summary
About Me
Welcome to my childminding service. My name is Maskabul Syeda - an ofsted registered childminder based in Clarence road E5. I live in Hackney downs/Central/Clapton area in a specious ground floor four bedroom flat with my husband and one daughter who is 17 years old. I look after small numbers of children ( 1-3 children under the age of 5yo). My husband is supportive (on need volunteer basis) - he is DBS checked by ofsted, has recent First Aid and safeguarding children training certificates, ofsted suitability letter for working with children.
I offer quality childcare in a safe, secure, fun and language rich learning environment for children aged 6months to 5 years. I am a reliable, honest, flexible and caring person who love to play with babies and young children. I have confidence and ability to take care of children according to their individual needs and support all areas of learning and development across the EYFS Curriculum including those who needs additional learning support. I believe in quality interaction and resources, I buy toys and books that supports quality learning and development.
In my setting children's physical and emotional needs are paramount. When a new child starts, I do follow a settling in period ( parent do stay n play, leave the child with me for a while then coming back again to spend some time together) for two mornings or more if the child takes longer to settle emotionally. My daily routines are based on Children's interest for exploring indoor and outdoor activities, their day to day safety, happiness, continuous care and rights to play and learn.
I am totally committed to maintain excellent partnership work with parent by sharing information in a varied way - daily diary, profile book, photographs, video, planning/ progress review meeting and brief chat at drop off pick up time. I seek parents voice to improve my service by giving them parent questionary.
I follow a daily routine for planned activity, outing, sleeping, feeding, changing and frequent reading. There is a balance of child initiated and adult led activities throughout the day. I keep my premises clean and children will be looked after with good hygiene practice. Resources of playroom include different educational/fun toys, games, books, role play - dressing up, doctor, kitchen, shop; sand and water play, cooking; puzzles, soft toys, outdoor toys, building blocks, treasure basket, sensory play, messy activity, instruments, music and movement ,train set, shape sorter, and different materials for art and design. For example, recyclable junk model and safe household objects for open ended play which foster children's curiosity, interest and creativity in a well planned prepared environment.
The floor space has been organised with literacy/ numeracy area, role play area , messy play area, display area and clear floor space. I don't have garden but there is a back balcony and open front space where I provide outdoor messy play with sand, water, paint, gloop, jelly etc. All children love to participate in growing plants and flowers and watering them in my front balcony little garden.
Hackney downs,Clapton Square park are 5-6 minutes and Hackney Downs, Hackney Central station are 7-10 minutes walking distance from my house.
I take children in my care to the different children's centre drop- ins sessions, library, museum, play bus, toddler groups on regular basis for high quality play and learning. I make sure children get access to the fresh air and natural play in park, playground, pond and garden visit. Children are provided opportunities for doing some Forest School activities such as mini-beast haunting, mud painting on big rocks and trees, treasure haunt for natural objects, tree climbing etc.
I support children's communication and language development, early literacy development through reading books to them regularly. Action songs, rhymes and stories are in my spontaneous daily free flow as well as planned routine. Parents are encouraged to share books, special toy from home to maintain home - school link for quality learning. They are also encouraged to contribute in child's profile book by sticking family photographs, sharing special moments from home or bringing small objects etc.
I am a member of PACEY ( professional association of childcare and early years) which provides me strong support and guidelines to deliver high quality care for children. I take part in various training sessions, forum meetings and annual conference offered by Hackney Education which I find as great support to gain knowledge of child development and maintain professionalism.

My son was with Syeda 3 days per week from 1-2 and we still see her for babysitting and extra cover. Our experience has been extremely positive - things I've particularly appreciated are Syeda's attention to detail, to each child's individual interests and preferences, taking time to set up lots of different activities and modifying them to each child, her clear love and appreciation for the children in her care and seeing them grow and develop, her extremely thorough updates every day, and the care she takes with providing very healthy varied meals. Her space is great for young children, loads of resources for learning and fun, and she mixes up the activities outside the home as well. Our son loved going and settled very easily, and is still friends with both Syeda and the other children he met there. Highly recommended.

We sent our daughter to Syeda from 1- 3years old, two days a week, when I went back to work full time. I couldn't be happier with the care she received from Syeda and her partner. They're both very loving, calm, fun and very knowledgable in caring for young children. I felt incredibly secure and reassured leaving my baby there for a 10 hour day, something I was really apprehensive about. It's very dependent on your child and circumstances but I personally also felt we made the right choice going for a childminder rather than a larger nursery with more children, as our daughter was able to form really close bonds with the two/three other children she was with during her two days.
My daughter was quite anxious and clingy when settling in, she cried a lot when I left and as you can imagine it was an emotional time for me too. Syeda was brilliant at calming and distracting her and 20 mins or so later I'd get an update saying that she was happily playing with her new friends. A few sessions later, my daughter would look forward to going to her house.
Syeda's setting is colourful, spacious and full of toys. She also carries out lots of activities with the children during the day (water fun/learning about sinking and floating, playing with sand, using a magnifying glass to look at toy insects, playing musical instruments, reading, disco dancing with flashing lights, visiting the nearby park and childrens centre) and it was great to get photo's of their play and meal times during the day. The food she provided was varied and healthy. She's naturally responsive to a childs individuals needs and seems to have a knack for engaging with them on their level, whilst also being firm when she needs to be (making sure they stay out of danger when out and about). Syeda was also great at making developmental recommendations or suggestions to us which I found really useful. I also noticed my little girl started using makaton sign language for key words that Syeda taught her, which she still uses now.
I feel incredibly lucky that we found Syeda on this site without a personal recommendation. She was hands down the best childminder we could have hoped for. Thank you Syeda for everything, we miss you!

Thank you very much Ivy for this lovely review.
The environment in Syeda's home was perfect for our 1yr old son. There was a lot of space for him to roam around and two different playrooms to choose from. Syeda has her place set up as you would see a nursery - so many toys, learning opportunities and cultural references on the walls. It felt different from some of the other childminder's we'd visited in that sense. Syeda is highly qualified and has some of her certificates on the walls which made us feel confident leaving our first born for the first time!
Syeda herself is really sweet and playful with Samuel. Always singing songs and introducing him to new things. She was also a master of distraction when I had to leave and I could see Samuel beginning to get upset! Syeda absolutely puts the children first. If they need to sleep, they stay in and have a good sleep; if they're bubbling with energy she'll take them outside for trips to the park or other places. Syeda kept in touch throughout the day with info on Samuel's eating and sleeping and nappy changes and sent photos of him happily playing which made us feel like he was in very happy, safe hands. I feel that Syeda really got to know Samuel and created a strong bond in the short time that she was with him. Syeda is a very kind, big-hearted and open-minded person. We couldn't recommend her more highly :)

Syeda has been taking care of our son for about 4 months. In this time we were delighted to see him settle in easily, and they've developed a lovely rapport together. She has a very pleasant, warm manner, and a calm and reasonable approach. I never doubt that our son feels safe and happy with her. She shows an excellent awareness of children's educational and developmental needs, which is reassuring.
The setting is spacious (for Hackney) and comfortable, and Syeda regularly sets up messy play, creative and sensory activities for the children to enjoy. I'm happy to say that our 'tricky sleeper' naps well when he's there. Although there is no garden at the setting, Syeda makes good use of the excellent parks and green spaces in the local area.
Most importantly though, Syeda clearly enjoys and cares about her work.
Syeda has been looking after my 2 year old son since he was 10 months old for 3 days a week. She is conscientious and takes real pride in her work. She is great at distracting him on the mornings so he settles quickly. She gives updates with photos by what's app during the day, and does a daily record so I know what they've been up to. Syeda is very thoughtful about the activities and resources she plans for the children.
I was so worried about finding a childminder through an app with no personal recommendations but Syeda has worked out great and my little boy is so happy there.
