My Summary
About Me
**Next availability Sept 2025**
Hello my name is Alexa, I am Ofsted graded Outstanding, I am 36 years old and live with my husband Tom, a secondary school PE teacher, our 7 year old son Elijah and our 4 year old son Elliott. We live in a bright and clean 3 bedroom, semi detached house in a cul-de-sac in Warley with a brand new, fully furnished dedicated playroom filled with stimulating toys, a large enclosed garden, downstairs toilet and spacious living room. I was a nanny for 8 years and switched to childminding since having my eldest son. My absolute passion is children, i thrive in helping children to develop and learn, everything I do is done in a fun and exciting manner, you will rarely catch me without a smile on my face. I will provide nutritious meals, snacks and plenty of fresh air daily. Your children will benefit from a home from home experience, with structured focussed activities to help them excel with their individual needs. Since becoming a mother myself I truly understand how huge the responsibility is of where you place your child and I can guarantee your child would be safe, loved, and happy in my care.
My Experience
Kiddi Caru Private Day Nursery (January 2009-April 2010)
Nursery Nurse.
I chose to work at Kiddi Caru, from a number of other nurseries, I did so because it had an incredible atmosphere and energy in the work place, the children were extremely well education and happy. I started off working in a room for children aged 2-3 years as a nursery nurse, I loved the age group and was completely in my comfort zone, I was excited for work every morning and formed great relationships with staff, children and parents. I had 8 key children which entailed, preparing monthly development targets for them, observing them and logging progress in their developmental books. It also meant I met with their parents at parents meetings, and they came to me in confidence with any problems or issues surrounding their child. After 9 months working in this age group, I was moved to a room for children aged 1-2 years. I was very happy in this age group and enjoyed the challenge of adjusting my activities and routine to a new age, learning and individual needs. My role as a nursery nurse meant, I had to be presentable and reliable, prepare daily routines for children, promote their development, meet individual needs, be flexible, provide equal opportunities for all, work as a team and be a role model for children.
Volunteering abroad (April 2010-September 2010)
Volunteering is something I have always wanted to do and is now a strong passion of mine. I spent two months in the west of Mexico living in a house with fifteen other volunteers, volunteering in two orphanages and a centre for disabled children. It was very difficult at first volunteering in the orphanage, coping with children’s unfortunate situations and also the language barrier. After the initial worry, I realised all these children wanted was to be loved and to be happy. I completely thrived here, learning the language almost fluently and providing each child with so much care and attention, creating activities and organising day trips to enlighten their lives. There were 46 children in the orphanage and I made sure I had a good and equal relationship with each of them. I also volunteered at a centre for disabled children for the other half of the week, this was more of an emotional challenge, yet it meant I only tried harder. I had the best time here and learnt a lot, I worked with children with a range of disabilities and had to adapt myself to each child’s needs.
After Mexico I went to Ghana, Africa. It was a complete culture shock, and the greatest time of my life. We were the first volunteers to ever enter this village, I taught English in charge of a class of thirty one 7-13 year olds. I worked 5 days a week at the school and spent the rest of my time, working within the community and painting/building schools. We also arranged a fundraiser which fed 510 people and entertained the village, we raised enough money to buy and install a computer in the school. My experience was a complete eye opener and I feel very blessed and extremely lucky, I went abroad to teach and help children and they were the ones who ended up teaching and helping me. Both of these places hold a very special place in my heart.
Nannying for one family (January 2011-January 2013)
I was caring for two little boys on a 24/5 basis, when i started the boys were aged 7 months and 2.7 years old.
They were a very high profile family and i had to obtain a level of professionalism. I have raised the children in my sole care, providing them with love and affection and education. I have travelled around the world with them and have had to use my initiative in most situations, i am very confident, flexible and have learnt i work well under pressure!
I enrolled the children in clubs, nurseries and schools. Watching them grow up into such fine young boys i am extremely proud of the progress i made and how much i achieved and proved to myself in the past two years. I am a confident cook, i fit well into new environments, and i love the children i care for unconditionally. I taught both of them to speak english, potty trained, how to read and write. The list of what i did for the boys, and family is endless, lets just say i go beyond and further in my job if it is of benefit to the children i am responsible for.
Temp/emergency nannying for a numerous amount of families (Jan 2013-April 2013)
Nannying for a second family (April 2013- June 2017)
I only left this wonderful family as I was pregnant. I was with them for four years and consider them family, we are all still extremely close. This family consisted of three gorgeous boys all with different personalities and needs. I would rise to the challenge of making an environment perfect and enriching for all three ages and developments. During my time with this family I saw the arrival of their third baby so I have had new born experience on a professional level not just my own motherhood.

I needed to find a child-minder at short notice and Alexia was a great find. My daughter loves going to her house which is very well equipped with plenty of toys and activities for an active child, as is the child friendly garden. Alexia is always warm and welcoming and provides a well structured positive environment that I would happily recommend to others.
