About Me

I provide a home from home childcare service. I have 30 years experience working with children through nannying and providing daycare. We enjoy playgroups and toddler groups to help develop our social skills. We have daily activities and projects going on in the home. The playroom is warm and inviting and has a Froebel feel to it. If you are unsure of what a Froebel setting means for your child it means your child is treated as an individual and allowed to grow and develop at their own pace. Young children learn through their play experiences and their own individual interests and personalities are respected.



Large garden outdoor play area which we try to use on a daily basis. We have sand and water play and a large mud kitchen in the messy area. A large selection of loose parts to enable the children to use their imagination and build whatever or wherever their mind takes them. We also enjoy walks in our local area discovering nature and having a lot of imaginary adventures.

I pride myself in the relaxed homely environment I provide, where your child feels loved and valued. Most of the childrens learning is done through play, firing their imaginations in a nurturing environment and helping them grow and develop while forming friendships in the small group. This becomes your child's 2nd home so I try to keep to routines as much as possible.

At Donna Daycare I specialize in the care of children 0-3.5. I believe children of this age group require nurturing loving care in a homely environment. Very young children benefit from a much smaller care setting where they can receive the attention and care that they deserve and require to enable them to grow and flourish.

I have 3 grown up children of my own and 2 step sons. 1 of my stepsons still lives at home with us but is out at a training centre every day. My wife Jackie works as a paralegal for an Edinburgh lawyers. She has worked from home since the first lockdown and this seems to have worked well for everyone so will continue for the foreseeable future.

I run a playgroup with my daughter in law in our community. We named it little explorers because we enjoy exploring outdoors and having lots of fun.
