About Me

My name is Fleur, I am 46 living with my partner of 20 years in Woolwell. My partner works as an engineer covering the south west & is CRB checked. I used to work both with young people as a psychotherapist & as a co-ordinator for the Stroke Association running groups for people who had physical & neurological challenges like paralysis & speech problems eg. dysphasia & dyspraxia after stroke. I do find this is a useful skill when children are learning to make sounds & to speak & when their speech might be delayed. When I became pregnant I chose to become a full time mother. We have 2 beautiful girls aged 8 & 9.

My daughters are in school at Horrabridge Primary School. Both are gentle & friendly with other children.

My quality childcare is in a safe & happy home & promotes positive relationships & experiences helping children to make secure attachments. I spend special time with each of them & I prefer children to be coming on a regular basis to ensure an emotionally safe & secure environment for them. Because of this, I have limited spaces.

I understand the importance of routine & structure days under an umbrella of themes like the senses, seasons, animals & so on which children can plan activities within. For babies, stimulating their senses is crucial for brain growth & so there's lots of reading, singing, messy play, baby groups, showing them things & speaking with them to encourage their verbal/non-verbal communication.

There is always a list of ground rules decided on by the children which promotes a sense of responsibility while the contents of days is all child-led. We always do a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise be that playing, going to the park, to soft play areas or walking or crawling or wriggling & there'll always be the option of 1 adventure day each month like going to the beach, rock-pooling, Aquarium, Donkey Park, Dartmoor Zoo or Pennywell. Everything I do is age-appropriate for all the children.

I follow the EYFS Framework & keep progress journals for each child & samples of their creative work, baking & so on will be sent home. I am happy to document each day with your camera which can be returned at the end of the day & will be available to speak with on a daily basis.

My Experience

Trained within the Early Years Framework in 2011 & qualified as Ofsted registered childminder in early 2012; because of commitments with own children, I have been childminding part-time since registration & have taken the opportunity to train in up-to-date childcare.

Full-time experience with my own children, their friends & the culture of being a new mother, baby groups to toddler groups to gym, drama, swimming & ballet groups.

Have first-hand experience of viral wheeze, eczema & asthma with my oldest daughter.

Child-minding for 2 years in Sheffield for 2 children aged 3 & 6, minding both at home & abroad when we accompanied parents with their adventure holidays to New Zealand & Iceland.

Also have Babysitting experience ranging from 6 months to age 9.

My Availability

I am aware that you might be nervous of leaving your children, especially babies with a childminder & once you night be decided in a possible childminder it would be a help to spend some time together. I would welcome the opportunity to go along to each others groups, to the park, coffee or some such thing & to start building a relationship based on first-hand experience.

I work Monday-Friday 7am-6pm in term-time.
I can provide emergency overnight care.
School runs to Horrabridge Primary SchooI & would consider all other schools in neighbourhood depending on time of drop-off/pick-up.
I will do pick-up/drop-off to your home. There is a one-off charge for this depending on distance.
NB. I'm taking a temporary break from my day-time childminding & will be available for childcare in the evening
