My Summary
About Me
Hi!
I'm a 41 years old and I come from the Tuscany countryside (Chianti) and I've worked as a babysitter and petsitter since I was 14, to pay my studies.
I have a first degree (3 years) in “Technologies of conservation and restoration of cultural artifacts", a second degree (2 years master) in “ Science for art and heritage" and a PhD in Bioarchaeology.
I worked for the University of Florence for five years on short term contracts as scientific educator, organizing interactive laboratories of chemistry for schools and citizens. I have supervised a lot of children on a range of cultural activities, as well as dealing with transports and tickets, and I have also worked for various nonprofits organizations, on a short term contract basis. One of them is “Noi per voi" ("Us for you") onlus, an organization that operates in a pediatric hospital of Florence, Meyer, playing with children and helping them with science homework during their treatments and then at home. At the moment I am working as a senior school science technician in a school in Horsforth and I am looking for casual childcare/education/nannyng jobs!
My Experience
My babysitting experience has given me sufficient experience and skills of taking care of children between ages from 12 months to 18 years. I can control and care for children, get them ready for rest periods, assist children with homework, arrange and serve healthy meals, disinfect bottles, plan formulas and change diapers for kids, take a trip with family and help with child supervision and housekeeping duties, maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home.
I am a responsible, tidy and very friendly person. I have much experience with both children and adolescents: I worked as a scientific educator from 2005, and I have spent all these years working with families, teachers and children.
I have supervised children and a lot of volunteers on a range of cultural activities, as well as dealing with transports and tickets, and I have also worked for various nonprofits organizations, on a contract basis, coordinating with the community and businesses to create and implement fundraising campaigns for worthwhile causes.
One of them is that of helping the families of child affected by cancer, working in a no-profit organization that operate in a local pediatric hospital of Florence, Meyer, playing with children and helping them with science homework during their treatments and then at home, and also writing on the newspaper “Comunicareâ€?, writing about the relationship between environment and health.
During these work experiences I developed many skills:
• planning activities with the children
• providing play areas, materials end equipment, etc.
• the ability to get on well with children, parents and careres from all backgrounds
• awareness of equal opportunities issues and the ability to judge how much support each child needs
• good listening skills
• creativity, flexibility, and the ability to adapt if children do not want to take part in planned activity
• the ability to work well as part of a team
• awareness of health and safety issues
• good organizational skill
• arranging activities for example games and day trip to give enjoyment and exercise to kids-pets
• perform housekeeping duties and arrange meals for children in line with employer’s directions.
• watch over children’s homework assignments requisite for school (especially chemistry and scientific subjects)
• ensured pets are given requisite amount exercise and playtime
• provided first aid on pets when required
• seeding plants and watering them at the correct times
I have been looking after children as a nanny and babysitter in a wide range of age, from 2 to 17 years old. My duties were: arranging the boys' timetables, helping tem with homework and extra curriculum activities, preparing healthy meals, keeping tidy, washing and general housekeeping. During the holidays I like to bring them having fun playing into the park, visiting museum and exhibitions, and organizing fun art and craft and science activities for them and their friends.
From September 2013 to March 2014 I worked in a special needs school as a teaching assistant. I worked in a class where the pupils where mainly in the autistic spectrum, and with other physical and behavioural needs.
On top of this I would be happy to help with homeworks and tutoring on scientific disciplines and geography.
I attended a Common Core Childcare Skills course and I'm first aid trained.
I have a valid driving license and I'm a confident driver.
