About Me
We are both registered childminders working together to care for children on a full and part time basis as well as our own 2 daughters who were born in May 2012 and March 2014.
We live in Clifton, York and are situated close to parks, the library, a lake and local shops. We live in a detached house with an enclosed garden. We enjoy going on regular outings with the children.
My Experience
Dawn:
I am a graduate and a qualified teaching assistant (level 3) and have several years experience in working in a primary school, secondary school as well as a day nursery. I have experience of working with children with a range of special needs and also children whose first language is not English.
I have attended training sessions on the Early Years Foundation Stage, the Progress Check at age 2, Planning, Observation and Assessment and have a Paediatric First Aid for Child Carers certificate. I also have a Food Safety and Hygiene for Catering certificate (level 2).
In my Ofsted inspection (March 2023) I have been rated as 'good'.
Paul:
Prior to becoming a childminder, I worked as a childminding assistant caring for children in the early years age group. I have experience of working with children with special needs.
I have attended training sessions on the Early Years Foundation Stage and have a Paediatric First Aid for Child Carers certificate.
In my Ofsted inspection (July 2017) I have been rated as 'good'

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.00 per hour
Full day - 8am-5.30pm - £47.50
Hourly rate - £5.00 (minimum of 6 hours)
Before school - £5.00
After school - £5.00 per hour (plus £2 extra if evening meal is required)

We are sad to have left Dawn and Paul after using them for 6 years to care for both our children. They have consistently provided loving, quality care and both our girls were very happy to be cared for by them. Their experiences there both in and outside the home have enriched them and made the transition to school easy.
We would, and have, recommended them to anyone in the area looking for childcare.

We had our daughter do 3 days a week with Dawn and Paul from age 11 months to 18 months. We then moved house to the other side of town and so had to move our daughter to a more local service. We were gutted to be taking our daughter (Lily) away from the care of Dawn and Paul as we could not fault the service they provided, they are a lovely couple and have a very welcoming home environment . Our daughter was very happy there and we always felt that they went over and above what we expected of them in many ways, they would often pack Lily off home with things they had made and there was always plenty of places they had been to or activities done in the week. They were very accommodating of our preferences - just a few little things like not too much sweet stuff. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to them.

My son is 2 and has been going to Dawn and Paul's 4-5 days a week for the last year. He settled in very quickly there and really enjoys going. They offer a fantastic variety of activities and outings meaning he has plenty of opportunities to develop his skills and socialise with others. I am a student with a changing timetable and Dawn and Paul have both been extremely flexible with regards to days/times of care and are very accommodating to my son's additional needs. They've incorporated recommendations from his occupational therapist, physiotherapist and speech & language therapist into his day and worked with his therapists and myself to ensure his needs are met. They really have gone above and beyond for us, the service we've received is second to none and I'm extremely appreciative. It's wonderful to know that my son is being cared for so well while I am studying.

Our daughter has just turned 2 and has been in care for 2 days a week with Dawn and Paul since she was 14 months. We have been very happy with her care and hope to continue with them for the foreseeable future. They have been very accommodating both with hours and days and any additional requirements we've had and with helping us adjust to being away from her - she settled very quickly and has been known to ask to go when it's not one of her days to! We get good, reliable, consistent feedback on what she's doing and how she's progressing and they are very approachable for any questions or concerns we may have. Our daughter has gained a wide experience with them, she has been on several big outings and many smaller trips and has done numerous craft and play activities, been to groups, made friends and generally is having a wonderful time. We are more than happy to leave our most precious charge - our daughter - with them, and can really have no higher recommendation than that!
