My Summary
About Me
So hears the bit about me, I am a very confident, creative, enthusiastic and energetic person with a great sense of humour that helps me meet the days demands with a smile on my face; It has often been commented by parents and colleges that I am a real life Marry Poppins, this always makes me smile.
My most passionate pastime is the arts, loving every aspect of this freeing form of expression.
I love painting and have the ability to create art using a variety of medias to an extremely high standard.
In the past I have sold various paintings and would love to gather a large enough body of work to have an exhibition. Salvador Dali is my favorite artist and I find him truly inspiring.
Previously having studied and worked as an actress, I have a vast passion for the theatre, attending as many productions as possible, my favourite area of which is physical theatre. Such as shows performed by Cirque du Soleil, which are truly breath taking and inspire on an unimaginable scale. I have a great appreciation for the passion, dedication and endurance productions like this takes.
I am an extremely fit and active person enjoying various outdoors sports, gym training, running and yoga which I have been pursuing for over 10 years,. Most recently I have been attending ariel yoga classes and circus hoop lessons that have been a great challenge physically and spiritually it helps me focus on the important aspects of a healthy lifestyle, allowing me to releasing tension and enabling me to recharge my energy levels.
As often as I can I enjoy baking and decorating cakes and have been told I have a real flare for it so often find my self making celebration cakes for friends and families on a regular basis,
I am a keen environmentalist and feel it is important to live my life in a way that reduces my carbon footprint as much as possible. To achieve this I recycle all waste products and look to use organic and free range food items. I am very conscious of animal rights and regularly write letters to help stop animal cruelty. At home I make a point of using house hold and make up products that are cruelty free and have not been tested on animals, I feel being aware and caring of the world we live in and the animals that inhabit it are extremely important.
I have a real energy for life and find my self always on the go and keeping busy, socialising with friends and family on a regular basis as well as walking my two dogs most weekends and evenings. I love being out doors and feeling at one with nature and truly believing it is the simple things in life that can make everyday magical.
As they say you only live once and I intend to make the most of it.
My Experience
I have had over seven years experience working in childcare during which time I have undertaken a variety of roles including, Deputy Manager/Acting Manager in absence of Proprietors, Nursery Practitioner, Room Leader, Play Supervisor and Play Ranger/ Youth worker. In all of the settings I have progressed to a leadership role and I am extremely proud of this accomplishment.
In my most recent roles I have been involved in helping families through difficult situations and working with and supporting children with particular needs, requiring close liaison with SENCO’s, parents and various specialists.
I am extremely creative and am very proud of my artistic flare, this is due to my drama and arts background and I always allow my creativity to influence my lessons making my learning experiences truly unique and inspiring for all the children and there parents. This has enabled me to run drama and movement classes focusing on creative and physical activities ranging from children’s yoga to imaginative play. These classes have been extremely successful and loved by all the children and commented upon by parents for being truly engaging and stimulating. I enjoy helping the children to created beautiful murals; I also encourage the children to display their work and share each other’s achievements.
I have a good understanding and abilities in Makaton sign, this has enabled me to support individual children with underdeveloped communication, working closely with their families and all agencies involved such as the occupational therapist and speech and language therapist as well as Heath visitors to name a few. I have facilitated and run Makaton training sessions to aid other practitioners and parents/cares with this unique and highly versatile skill.
I have a great deal of experience running and managing classrooms and nurseries in the absence of the teacher/Proprietors. I am excellent at taking small groups of children with additional needs for more individual support; devising lesson plans that help the children achieve their learning outcomes by using engaging techniques and my nurturing nature. In all positions I have worked closely to support parents and children with the transition process implementing and developing appropriate strategies, often linking with outside agencies to support this crucial stage. Enabling all parties to feel fully supported and confident at this important time in their lives.
I have been instrumental in introducing new initiatives in all setting such as: settling in period and introduction sessions for children and parents; art and craft workshops; movement and dance sessions; reading corners, circle times and family days.
As a Deputy Manager I have taken responsibilities for all matters surrounding Health and Safety; In my role I have had experience of administering first aid and medication as well as the reporting of accidents and injuries, enabling me to undertake risk assessments for all situations.
I have extensive experience of following policy and procedure relating to safeguarding issues along with various other administrative duties relating to all my previous roles.
In all roles undertaken I have been required to set up a variety of activities for the children to use during their child-initiated play both in their indoor and outdoors environment. As well as gather and make resources to use in their daily adult directed activity’s which I have assisted in executing as well as run individual sessions, helping encourage and engage children who are less forthcoming to take an active role and join in. At the end of each session helping to clear away and reset for the next group or day. I have taken responsibility for the daily audit and replenishing of everyday resources i.e. pencils pens, paper etc. Understanding the environment plays a crucial part in the children’s development insuring the setting is a clean safe, stimulating, highly imaginative and a happy place where the children’s individuality is nurtured and their needs always meet with the highest standard of care.

Helen has been with us for about 3 years. She has been fantastic looking after our three children (1yr, 3yrs, 5yrs). She is very patient, good at multi-tasking, completely trustworthy and takes everything in her stride. She is always full of energy with a smile on her face, singing songs with the children and playing games.
They love having her around. We were lucky to find such a great nanny!
