About Me

Hi, I have over 21 years experience in childcare and education, I am passionate about providing high quality childcare and using my past experiences and knowledge to support the children and their families.
I live on the Staffordshire border close to the local amenities and the new i54 site.
My home is smoke free and has a spacious child friendly garden and a separate Playroom.
I have two young daughters who are both very welcoming to the children, and love making friends with the children in my care!
I aim to provide that small home from home learning environment for children and their families. I feel my setting has a warm, friendly atmosphere, with a home from home routine and environment which means that the children can enjoy real-life learning experiences like cooking, gardening, and outings to the park and library and local community. Including going to toddler groups, song time, soft play areas and local farms and parks. -All admission/entry fees to forest school sessions, soft play, dance club sessions, toddler groups, farms etc are included in my fees, at no extra cost to you, no top ups required!
I accept full 30 hours funding and 15 hours free funding for 9month- 2, 3 and 4 year olds, message for more details.

My Experience
I have over 21 years experience within childcare and education I am passionate about providing high quality childcare and using my past experiences and knowledge to support the children and their families.
I previously worked in a busy nursery within a children's centre, with experience ranging from nursery nurse to a managerial role. I worked specifically with 0-3 years but also have lots of experience with 3-8year olds within the pre school and the before /after school clubs.
I then became a Childcare assessor in 2009, supporting/assessing/tutoring students through childcare qualifications for (NVQ and equivalent) Level 2 and 3 in Childcare, Playwork and Functional Skills, English, Maths, ICT.
I have a wide range of Childcare qualifications and regularly ensure my training and knowledge is kept up to date.
My Qualifications
I attend regular online training and monthly face to face training courses to further enhance and extend my knowledge and skills.
I'm a member of the Forest school association.

My daughter has been a Duckling since September and during that time she has absolutely thrived within the environment that Donna creates! from having some speech delays to now knowing so many words in just a few months thanks to the personal and amazing support that is given to her! I love the excitement of hearing about what adventures she's been on and the bonds she has made with other children, genuinely couldn't ask for a better childminder! x

It has been more than 1 year since we started and we have constantly seen progress on our child. The activities are so various, from yoga for children to farm visits, from dancing classes to joining story groups, etc. We are so happy and thankful to have found you. Thank you

Putting your child into the care of another person is a huge deal for parents, you can never quite be sure what to expect. We tried a nursery for our son initially but at 10 months old it was far too much for him and he left looking tired, worn and unhappy every evening and we decided we wanted a more homely feel.
Then we found Donna at Ducklings! Donna's setting is perfect, it provides a total home from home environment and you can see that Donna truly cares for each and every child she looks after. She is on hand to help develop your individual child. For example when my son was starting crawling she took him to soft play centers so that he could try, fall and not hurt himself. She notes current favorite toys and encourages them to play with them or even paint with them (cars through paint!).
Not only that but she and her lovely daughter develop a wonderful bond with your child which makes you feel totally at ease when you drop them off, less guilty for leaving them, safe in the knowledge they're happy and well looked after. Thank you x

Thank you so much for your wonderful and honest words. When I started I wanted to provide a home from home but stimulating and interesting setting for the children I care for and I think this review sums up exactly what I had hoped to achieve, I'm proud my home and family are both welcoming and friendly to all the children.
So friendly and clearly very passionate in what she does! My kids were right at home within 2 minutes of walking through the door! Lovely variety of activities for the kids, and someone who really cares!
