My Summary
About Me
I have worked with children and young people for over 20 years now, ranging from being a Nanny, to a Teaching Assistant, to a Secondary School Teacher, and have been a Childminder for 9 years. I have two sons myself - aged 11 and 15, and love being able to be around for them and fully involved in their care and development. I find Childcare to be a fantastically rewarding job - what's not to love about singing songs and running around in the great outdoors all day? I also really enjoy the professional development side - learning more about the Early Years and Foundation Stage, and putting that into practice. It is such a magical and fundamentally important stage of each child's life and I feel honoured to get to help the children I care for learn more about the world and get ready for nursery and school life.
I have a large setting with assistants from a large house on Therapia Rd with fabulous big garden. We are now, technically a 'Childcare on Domestic Premises' set up as we have several assistants and up to 21 children a day. My lead practitioner, Megan, has worked with me for nine years and parents and children alike think she's marvellous. We are a bilingual Spanish setting and are working towards becoming an accredited 'Curiosity Approach' setting. In our setting we have lots of fun doing arts and crafts, messy play, loose parts play etc and lots of nature play and we also go out to local parks and nature gardens. I love to dance (I still go to ballet!) and we love nothing more than a disco on a gloomy afternoon with disco balls and flashing lights. Music is usually on too to make mealtimes a relaxing and enjoyable time for us all to sit together. Equality is very important to us and is a careful consideration from policies, staff training to resources and activity planning. We celebrate all different types of families and festivities in our setting, from Diwali to Chinese New Year, Black History Month, International Women's day or LGBTQI+ History Month, as well as lots of Spanish and South American festivities. We are also keen to become as eco friendly as possible which is an ongoing development in our practice.
Fees include three meals a day, including a freshly home cooked meal at lunchtime. Parents get a digital daily diary about their child, plus more detailed observations with photos charting their progress and achievements.
My Experience
I began working in childcare when I was a teenager as I've always enjoyed looking after children. I babysat regularly and studied Child Development for one of my GCSEs. After going to University, I became a Nanny as well as a freelance journalist, and stayed with the same family for 5 years. I then became a Teaching Assistant - voluntarily in a primary school for a while and then for a year at a secondary school. I then completed a PGCE to become a secondary school teacher and taught locally for 7 years. It was a tough decision to decide to stop teaching, but I realised I couldn't be a really good teacher and a really good parent at the same time. I had helped my former partner for a number of years with her Childminding business, so decided to follow suit. I've not looked back since and have been working in early years full time for eleven years now. I love running my own business and helping local families through the tricky period when they have to return to work after maternity/paternity leave. I find the job to be really creative and mentally stimulating, as well as physically and emotionally. I love creating a calm, loving, supportive environment for children to start to gain independence and develop new skills.

My Availability
We work Mon - Fri 8-6. We do full days only and I have a two day minimum as I find children struggle to settle only coming one day.
Please send me your email address if you are interested in joining the waiting list. I have limited spaces coming up Jan 24 onwards at the moment and am prioritising 5 day a week children to even up the schedule or those willing to have a Wed or Thurs as their day off. Due to the high number of enquiries I get, I don't do tours unless I have a space to potentially offer as its a little disruptive for the children to have lots of strangers coming in the house to look at them as I am sure you can appreciate.

Becca was a total life saver for us, she provided the care and environment we'd been struggling to find and our daughter adored spending time in her care. It was my daughters first experience of childcare, and Becca was so reassuring, providing whatsapp updates and pictures, it made me feel like I was leaving her with a friend. Highly rate & recommend, not only for the childcare service, but also for Becca's viewpoint and stance on the world - always striving for equality and fairness!

Becca is great. Our daughter loves her. She's our first child so it was our first experience with a childminder and Becca made it a really lovely warm experience. We'd get lots of updates, and the updates were specific and personal and we really felt at ease. She was always on hand to answer questions, and our daughter has really thrived under Becca's care. Thank you Becca, we'll all miss you!

We feel very lucky to have found Becca and can't thank her enough for the amazing care she provided for our son over the last year (from 1-2 years). He has food allergies and Becca took great care to cater for his needs as well as to keep us updated on any symptoms. Her team is excellent and together they made our son feel safe and secure. Most importantly he would come home so happy, full of joy after a day of varied activities. He initially found drop offs difficult, but Becca worked with us to help him (and me!) through this and would send pictures to show he was fine. We loved all the crafts and pictures he came home with and the creative ideas that Becca came up with for special occasions. The daily reports are excellent and cover morning and afternoon activities, and include a detailed description of his meals, nap times and nappy changes. The care and service provided are exceptional and we felt that he was in safe hands from the very start. We cannot rate Becca highly enough and only wish she lived closer to us!

Becca is SO lovely. She's warm, kind, personable and professional. We came from another setting and immediately felt welcome and at ease with her. She's exceptionally calm and relaxed - and we found it very easy to build a strong relationship with her and really work together on our daughter's care. She's always up for trying out new activities and exploring different things to do with the children. She's open to feedback and parents requests and understands how to make children feel happy, secure and loved. Becca has a very inclusive approach to life and her work and it is a value she instills in the children. They cook nutritious meals for the children every day, and you get told all about what they did each day - including sleeps, nappies, food and activities. Receiving this update on what our daughter did really did make our day - we absolutely loved and treasured it. Becca is such a wonderful soul, and we are glad our paths crossed. She has now moved away, and whilst it was a tough decision for us to leave, we are so excited that another family will be welcomed into the fold in our place and get to be a part of Becca's mindling family.

Our daughter has been with Becca for 9 months and we couldn’t be happier with her service. She has the perfect (and difficult to find) balance of care and professionalism.
We love Becca’s commitment to doing varied activities with the children and the focus on spending time outdoors. Our daughter loves her days with Becca and she has thrived since starting there.
Becca provides a warm and caring environment and we had no hesitation in entrusting our daughter with her. Her assistants are also brilliant and she has obviously trained them well.
The food Becca and her team prepares is healthy and home cooked, which was really important to us in choosing a childcare provider.
The daily online updates are a godsend and we look forward to them each day.
We wish Becca and her team the very best for the upcoming move. We will be sad to see them go.

My son Kit has been with Becca for five months now and we couldn't be happier. Becca was incredibly thorough when we went for our first visit before we'd signed up and asked lots of questions about Kit and myself, which I found hugely reassuring. The procedure following that once we had agreed was very clear. Since then communication has been impressive - no matter how hectic things are at drop off or collection, Becca or one of the assistants always make the time to let us know anything important, or listen to anything we need to talk about.
I have felt totally confident in her settling in process from the start as she manages to strike the balance between taking initiative based on her own experience, and also respecting our wishes as Kits parents - taking advice and also recommending certain things.
It is very evident that Kit has a great time at Beccas - he has clearly formed a good attachment with her and the two wonderful assistants Megan and Emma. We can see lots of close connection and affection, and play and activities, great food, singing and outdoor play. He has developed so quickly since he's started there.

My husband and I count ourselves lucky to have found Becca and her team of excellent assistants (one of whom helps out with babysitting when we need a night off which is a complete bonus as our son absolutely adores her!). We’ve been really pleased with how quickly he settled in with Becca. He was only 9 months old when he started and being first-time parents we found the crying at drop-offs and pick-ups really difficult but Becca was so patient and understanding, providing us with helpful tips and regular photo updates in those early weeks in our private WhatsApp group to reassure us that he was getting on just fine. She also allayed any lingering feelings of mummy guilt that I had in the beginning as well, as I soon learned just how much our son was getting out of his day (e.g. freshly made meals, a variety of activities, different play groups every day, learning about nature, looking after animals, etc.). Becca uses an online tool for recording my son's daily updates (much preferred to a hardcopy book) and any developmental milestones (with accompanying photos) which I eagerly look forward to receiving in my inbox every evening (and forwarding on to equally eager grandparents!). Our son has picked up so many good habits there, e.g. using cutlery, finally saying please and thank you(!), helping out with chores, developing his language, etc. It has been a real pleasure to see how he has flourished there, growing into an independent, self-assured little 2 year old boy who has developed some heart-warmingly strong bonds not just with his carers but with the other children there (fondly talking about them all at home). I’m dreading the day when it’ll finally be time to move on from Becca and the gang for good!

When we were looking for a childminder in 2016, we contacted Becca on the recommendation of a friend. At the time, Becca didn't have any space but said she would be in touch if anything changed. Luckily a little while later a space came up and Becca invited us to come to her home to see the setting and get to know each other. We had a cup of tea and a chat and Becca talked me through a normal day and the ways she keeps everything clean and serves meals etc. The children were all very happy and having a lovely time in the garden and I was confident our daughter would be happy with Becca.
After the visit we emailed Becca to sort out our daughter's start date and settling in and Becca recommended we did a settling in process over a few consecutive days. Our daughter spent an hour or so with Becca on the first day then a half day then a short day on the third day and then went straight into her Tuesday to Thursday routine. Becca stays in at first to make sure the new child is comfortable and settled and then starts talking them to groups. Our daughter settled in really easily, she has always enjoyed going to Becca's house and has thrived there. She started when she was 13 and a half months and is now 2 and 10 months and she talks about her day and her caregivers really lovingly and looks forward to going to Becca's. She never looks back when we drop her off. It is her home from home.
Becca also sent us all her policies and procedures - there are lots! We printed them all out to read and they are quite thick in our daughter's childcare folder!
We used to get a paper daily diary of what our daughter had been up to that day, including what she had eaten, activities, nappy changes, naps etc. Now we get this electronically, which is lovely because we get more photos and it is easier to see how she is doing against her milestones and the EYFS. Becca lets us know how our daughter had been generally during the day when we pick her up and is available on WhatsApp if we have questions.
It is really important to us that our daughter gets out and about and attends groups and socialises. She gets this every day at Becca's and has formed fantastic relationships with Becca's assistants and the other children. She had a very close bond with one of the other children and they like to leave together in the evenings and we hear they look out for each other at groups when other children take their toys! She talks about the other children too and sings songs about Becca, the assistants and the other children at home. We couldn't be happier with our daughter's childcare arrangements from what was quite a young age right through to now. She has learnt to do so many things in this time - walk confidently, run, hop, jump, eat all sorts of foods and she is chatting away these days. She also knows most of the alphabet and the numbers to ten and most of this knowledge is from her time at Becca's where she learns through having fun and playing with other children. Becca comes up with new activities all the time and our daughter loves feeding and stroking the guinea pigs and the water play in the garden. She also brings home arts and crafts she has done with Becca and at groups and we love putting these up at home. We feel she has really thrived with Becca and would recommend her to anyone.
